I thought I saw somewhere that an item with 2 lines could be re-cubed to get 3, or vise versa. My friend believes it is static. Quick searched turned up nothing.

Unless it's extremely rare, the number of lines never changes. A friend of mine has used a ton of cubes (500+) but the number of lines remained the same.

You have a higher chance of getting hit by lightning 3 times than to upgrade from 2 to 3 lines. It can happen, just very rare.

I've never heard of or seen evidence of any item going from 2 to 3 lines due to cubes. If you want 3 lines, get a clean item that has 3.

I did it on my shoes. I just don't have the SS to back it up. I didn't think it was a big deal. I have not been able to do it again since.
