I'm going to write this down now since this all just happened and i don't want to forget.

Describe the problem. Be as specific as possible!:
I was playing with my bandit at typhons and i had just entered the map. it was unusually laggy in the previous map and when i entered the typhons map it lagged so bad that the typhons just sat there for at least a whole minute. i dont know if this is a factor but i was attacking the lagged monsters.

after at least a minute, the map background seemed to glitch and an NPC chat box from maple administrator popped up, and it scrolled this far into the text before maple closed completely: "an illegal program has been detected. please try again after"

now i don't know what illegal program that would be, since all i had open were some notepad files, firefox and opera, and pidgin for chat, as well as my regular background programs which never actually give me trouble. during subsequent logins i did have some webpages open on firefox that referenced maple cheating and cheatengine and things like that, since i was doing a google search with that error message + "maplestory".

so every time i try to log in afterwards, i can't get past the channel selection menu without getting disconnected. in the text box that shows after maple closes it says "you have been disconnected from the login server please try again later". Other maple accounts work just fine. about a couple hours after getting disconnected there, i find that all of my characters have been taken off the rankings but i don't have any ban message.

incase there was any wondering, i wasn't actually cheating at maple during any of this, and just want to find out what kind of bug this is and how soon it will be resolved if ever.

If you're logging in via the website, you won't get a BAN message. Instead, you'll only disconnect at the channel selection with no hint whatsoever about a ban.

In any case, I've heard of the Typhon map banning people a lot lately. Hasn't it done that in the past too?

is there any other way to log in nowadays? i haven't played for half a year before coming back to this so i've missed out on quite a bit of changes.

GameLauncher.exe in your MapleStory folder should do the trick.

Lag = Auto-Ban for some time now...

It's random, it can be 3 things:

Server Lag Ban:
Player keeps attacking server-lagged monsters (that don't move/die anymore) > Server comes back into action and notices a player does impossible things (attacking monsters 100x while they should have died already without the server lag) => AUTOBAN
Connection Lag Ban:
Connection of the player gets interrupted and player keeps attacking monsters > Connection comes back into action > Player sends a huge part of "killing / moving" data to the server > Server doesn't recognize this data as "legit playing" => AUTOBAN
PC Lag Ban:
Maple lags because of the lack of RAM (too much harddisk swapping) > PC finally throttles back after the page file swapping is complete > Server has to send TOO much data to the player at once / Player sends TOO much information to the server at once => AUTOBAN

The last thing happened to me a few weeks ago, I got the ban message after 3minutes of 100% swapfile lag when entering the DOJO main place, but I've never been banned (most likely there was too much lag... lol), and I could relog normally...

All bans are totally retarded... but ok... we know who runs gMS game already...

So, just don't do anything if you lag, and if you lag for more then 30 seconds, try pressing ALT+F4 (close maple) and if that doesn't work, press the restart button on your PC, to avoid an autoban...

Might of been an aran on the map using BP hack. attacks 1 monster at a time so would be kinda hard at typhons to tell bc of how big the map was. It also comes with a hack that freezes mobs in thier place and has them not attack at all.
