Connecting to another network. - prozard - 2010-08-03

The title states my problem a bit simplistic. The actual situation is that I normally connect to my home network, which is protected with all kind of (in my opinion) useless software, such as child protections and the liking. That has "always" worked well, until somewhere last week, where I dragged my computer to a friend of mine to game. Since his network was acting a little weird, we set up a little shared network with my computer as the host. Result: I can't reconnect with my normal network anymore, yet the shared network can't be killed either. If I disable that connection, it auto-reconnects. Help on how to solve this is appreciated.

EDIT: It suddenly worked. Network magic or a lucky guess, no idea.

Windows Button>>>>Connect To>>>Right Click the Shared Network that you're connected to>>>>>Properties>>>Connection Tab>>>Uncheck "Connect Automatically when this Network is in Range" and "Connect even when this network is not broadcasting."

You should know what to do from there.

I tried that, but I couldn't find the connection tab. I unchecked some boxes about other computers sharing my internet though. (Man do I feel like a noob now). I also don't know how to reconnect to my home network actually.

Aw, damn, that's different.

Ya using wireless or wired internet? (Yeah, I'm quite a noob at computers, too....)

My home network is wired, and so was the shared network.

Damn, sorry, I can't be much of a help unless I see your actual computer =/.

Stuff to try.
