I think its caused by that skull: the Zombify status condition. It causes damage to you whenever a Bishop heals you. So, you must bring your own pots (unless you wish to get pwned). and no, it is not a glitch, from what I know.
But, the statues and Pink Bean also cause other status conditions. Seduce, SKB, Stun, all of the ones we have currently (I dunno about inverted controls), I think two different Zombifies (the other is a triple skull, which I take is far more potent), and three other debuffs (refer to Fiel's page, because I dunno what they do). If you ram into the Bean, I presume you die as well. It can cast buffs on the statues too (I think).
There are elemental resistances too. >.>

Well. To call it from another name, it makes you "Undead". With this status, you can be damaged by Heal, like Coolie Zombies, Himes, Skelegons... They are Undead monsters too.
Pink Bean looks like a lot harder than i thought lol. With that buff that makes you "Undead", and Priests spamming heal, it's suicide :o.

Not to mention PB can seduce, three mystery status conditions, all the regular ones like stun, and his own crazy health. The mini beans themselves are marked as "bosses", and they can cast Super Weapon/Magic Def.

^The mystery status conditions you're talking about are damage reflect. One version is weapon, one version is magic, and one version is both. It reflects about 15% of the damage back at you, so you'd die trying to attack it if you were of a ranged class.

Whether Heal actually damages a player during the status effect is undetermined. We only know the skill description right now.
