Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Hanabira.Kage - 2010-07-29 Lol. I can't believe I'm actually playing this game again. I got kind of bored so I just came back to this. I remember getting creamed by Mateus on my old game save, after which I stopped playing. Then again, I didn't know anything about stat growths and whatnot so that was probably why I had trouble then. Oh, and I really rushed through the storyline so I got random missions like killing Vampires really early.
Anyway, I started a new save file and just got past Diamond Rain. My clan members are already between Lv14~17...with Marche as a Ninja and Montblanc as a Juggler. I also have... Tamara Viera Sniper/Archer (Planning to go Assassin. Haven't decided on sub) Rooster (Lol, should've reloaded) Bangaa Gladiator (Planning to go Dragoon/Gladiator) Messara Moogle Mog Knight (Lucky recruit. Got him as he is.) Bensom Nu Mou Time Mage (Just for the MA growth) Eldena (Semi-secret character. Got her on my 1st try. Whee!) Viera Red Mage (Will change later. Having 2 Assassins doesn't sound too bad.) The other Human I have is just a filler for when I have someone on a dispatch mission and need that slot filled, so it's naturally at a very low level (Lv8 I think). That Moogle is really quite something. It's roughly the same level as my Gladiator...and it deals around 1.2x the Gladiator's damage. What gives? >.> A REALLY strange thing regarding the Bangaa's damage is that it deals around 40 damage with Beatdown ("All-or-nothing Attack!"), but deals over 60 damage with Fire/Bolt/Ice Sword. On the other hand, I've seen Messara deal 172 damage with Mog Rush (same thing as Beatdown, just with a different name). They are both roughly the same level, and my Bangaa has the Materia Blade while Messara has the Icebrand I think. With the enemies being elementally neutral. Still wondering if I should level the Bangaa as White Monk for a few more levels for the Speed growth...hmm... Anyone else playing FFTA or anything similar? ._. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Rob - 2010-07-29 So, uh, I finished an old playthrough from 2007 a couple weeks ago. Marche is a Fighter, level 32 or so. Montblanc is a Black Mage, level 32 or so. There I have a Ninja, Noman. Level 33. William, A Dragoon, level 30. Elvos, a Templar, level 30 as well. And Leroy, a level 31 Black/White mage/Alchemist hybrid. I want to do a new playthrough now so bad. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - JaredTheUnseen - 2010-07-29 Oh God I love this game. I haven't played it in years, but was also amazing if you guys haven't played it. Loaded up my game, here's what I got: Marche, level 37 Paladin Tennessey, Nu Mou, level 34 Alchemist with white magic Dylan, human, level 37 ninja Lezaford, Nu Mou, level 34 morpher. He's the pomegranate yo Hilary, Viera, level 40 (lol) Assassin Pallanza, Bangaa, level 33 Gladiator Quin, Nu Mou, level 33 Sage Lini, Moogle, level 33 Mog Knight Secret characters ftw. And I killed Montblanc, I found him to be more of a nuisance than anything in FFTA. I have lots of other characters too, but I'm too lazy to type them out. I found FFTA2 to be way more expansive, challenging, and balanced than the first game. Not that this game isn't fantastic, it was the first FF game I ever played. Nostalgia
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - madanthony - 2010-07-29 One of the best GBA games, definitely. I remember ordering a special bundle for this game from Nintendo Power and waiting day after agonizing day for it. *Whips out GBA* 298 missions cleared. Main party is all low to mid 30s. Pally/Fighter (8 move/4 jump hubba hubba) Alchemist/White Mage Assassin/Red Mage (double-casting kill moves and ultima) Sniper/Elementalist Ninja/Thief And I would have sworn I had the awesome Mog Knight/Gunner combo, but I guess that was on a later, less complete play. I'm also done previous playthroughs all one-race (other than Marche) with each one but Moogle. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - KaidaTan - 2010-07-29 I played the original Final Fantasy Tactics for years and loved it. I tried picking up this game two years ago or so and sold it after the second mission. *sigh* Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Manu - 2010-07-29 Great game, I really loved it. I think I've finished it twice, once with LOTS of things and one like basic game finish... but like a few years ago already. On a side comment, I played the FFT for PSP once and I didn't like it... don't know if it was because I didn't play much or if I just.... didn't like it. xD Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Hanabira.Kage - 2010-07-30 I checked again. Turns out my Mog Knight was 2 whole levels below my Gladiator. Then again, the Materia blade gives only 14 WA 14 Mag Pow 14 Resist or something like that. On the other hand, the Icebrand gives somewhere in the region of 40 WA...
Anyway, my Gladiator's mastered Ultima Blade so I've switched him to Dragoon for an even better WA growth. The problem is that the MP growth sucks...I'll never get to use Ultima Blade at this rate. :/ Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Salguod - 2010-07-30 My favorite GBA game; I put in many well-spent hours. On my third save, nearly everyone in my party (around 18 iirc) is 50 or 49, with most/many abilities mastered. My nu mou from the original party stands out as he is short only Ultima Blow to have stars for everything. I tried to master everyone's abilities but that was too tedious for me, fun as the game was. Therefore, I just spent my time fighting the random clans. I used Marche as a ninja, Montblanc as a gunner/juggler, my nu mou (I forget his name..) as a black/white mage, my bangaa as a templar/white monk, Shara (Max's Oathbow is too good), and Ritz (not as useful or powerful as the others but I liked keeping them together). Makes me want to play again. I wish they had a better sequel than FFTA2. Similar thing happened to me, Darkmaniak. I bought FFT for the PSP but never got into it. I think I couldn't get past the second battle. Am I supposed to grind for each story battle? The long load times don't help. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Cyadd - 2010-07-30 Holy pomegranate. I loved this game. Over like 500 hours in it. I had combos of every class and race imaginable. Too bad I accidentally dropped a Blood Apple and couldn't find anyone else with one to complete all 300 missions. I was raging. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Hanabira.Kage - 2010-07-30 Hurrah. My clan's now...
Marche Lv22 Human Hunter/Ninja/Counter/-/Ninja Combo Montblanc Lv20 Moogle Juggler/Animist/Return Fire/-/- (Random Human filler) Rooster Lv23 (I think) Bangaa Dragoon/Gladiator/-/Shieldbearer/- Bensom Lv17 Nu Mou Alchemist/-/-/Turbo MP/- Tamara Lv23 (I think) Viera Assassin/Archer/Block Arrows/-/Killer Combo Messara Lv18 (maybe 19?) Moogle Mog Knight/-/Last Haste/Shieldbearer/- Eldena Lv22 (not sure) Viera Assassin/Red Mage/Block Arrows/-/Red Combo Lini (Just recruited. Got on my 1st try too :p) Lv21 Moogle Mog Knight/-/-/-/- Gonna level Marche up a few more times. Probably to 26, then I'll make him a Paladin forever. Or at least until I get a Target Bow. I'll switch him to Archer to master Concentrate then. Tamara's up next for Concentrate after that. Speaking of which, Tamara's currently learning Last Breath. <3 Messara's left with Mog Peek and Ultima Charge, after which he'll have mastered all MK A-Abilities. Not that it matters. He's left with around 89 AP to master Ultima Charge. Once he's done I'm planning to make him a gunner. 8 square long-ranged Ultima Charge, anyone? ![]() Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Rob - 2010-07-30 What bothered me about FFT: War of the lions was de Magic attacks system. Waiting a couple turns to cast a spell, lolno, I don't like that on my games please. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - xBTAx - 2010-07-30 I used to play my brother's copy (he had a tendency to accidentally buy very good games), but I don't think I ever got very far in it. I got War of The Lions for the PSP a while back, but I only played the first tutorial and haven't touched it since. Uh, Kaida, it goes beyond strategy, you cast a spell and two turns later, when you're supposed to actually cast it, there are no enemies on those tiles of the map anymore. lolwatsastrategy Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - KaidaTan - 2010-07-30 Rob Wrote:Uh, Kaida, it goes beyond strategy, you cast a spell and two turns later, when you're supposed to actually cast it, there are no enemies on those tiles of the map anymore. lolwatsastrategyFor starters, there's no spells that you'd get during normal gameplay that take "two turns" (which is ambiguous. I assume you meant turns for the caster.) Early game this almost never happens since spells are really fast and characters are really slow. But even in the mid and meta games, these "problems" are easily dealt with, and even turned into advantages. For starters, you can have a spell target a person rather than a tile, so them having moved should be a non-issue. You can easily use this for offense by casting a Cure spell on an ally and moving next to an undead (even if that tile would normally have been far out of reach of the caster), or by having that unit wear a shield that say... absorbs fire and casting Fire 4 on him. He then becomes a walking nuke. Strategies involving Summons are much easier, since they don't hurt your teammates. And you can never claim that you don't know when a spell is going to go off, since there's a nice convenient list available to you at all times with a simple press of the triangle button. You have the ability to know exactly when any spell in your list would fire in relation to character turns before you even select the spell. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Rob - 2010-07-30 I must've been a f'aggot learner then. My bad. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Dusk - 2010-07-30 FFTA was fun, but the storyline was mind-numbingly bad and the Judge system was very annoying and added absolutely no strategy element to the game. Also, the classes are extremely poorly balanced. You don't need anything but Dual-wielding Paladins levelled up as Ninjas and Assassins. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Alilatias - 2010-07-30 Love this game. Cleared all 300 missions + the secret missions. I don't know about you guys, but FFTA2 felt really slow to me, especially what with the high HP standard and all. Didn't really like it all too much, despite clearing all of the missions in the game there as well. Dusk Wrote:Also, the classes are extremely poorly balanced. You don't need anything but Dual-wielding Paladins levelled up as Ninjas and Assassins. Or a Hunter with Paladin secondary (or vice-versa). Dual Wield is overrated. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Hanabira.Kage - 2010-07-30 Dusk Wrote:FFTA was fun, but the storyline was mind-numbingly bad and the Judge system was very annoying and added absolutely no strategy element to the game. Double Sword is useless. It only affects "Fight", and can thus be rendered useless by Reflex and Strikeback.
The storyline is bad, I must admit, but the Judge system is a good idea I think. I mean, it can either make or break you in a battle depending on what you're using. There is indeed no strategy being added by the system...though there are ways to get around the laws anyway (e.g. Doublecast is not penalised when elements are forbidden). The only strategy the system could potentially add is the usage of Law Cards to change your situation and piss the enemy off. If I remember correctly, enemies later on in the game start using Cards as well... Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - mrcowcow - 2010-07-30 I played FF Tactics Advance for like... three missions or something, and I just couldn't take it, so I put it down. Then I went back to my good ol' PS1 Final Fantasy Tactics. ...Which I still play sometimes. It left a good memory in my early childhood. If anyone's played both, what's the difficulty level between the two? And if anyone's also played FFTA2, what's the difficulty compared to the predecessors? I like my strategy games mildly challenging, but not hair-ripping jaw-clenching hard. |
