Dragon Quest IX - JaredTheUnseen - 2010-07-19 Anyone else playing Dragon Quest IX? I just picked it up a few days ago and I'm loving it. The set up of the game simple but still fun and challenging. Anyone got some advice on what jobs to level? I got martial artist, priest, gladiator, and I switch my last person between a ranger and magician. Dragon Quest IX - Super_cyp - 2010-07-20 It's not out yet for me, but I want to get it. How is it? :f6: Comes out sometime next month for me </3
Dragon Quest IX - JaredTheUnseen - 2010-07-21 I've gotten a bit further into it, and I gotta say it's great! I love how the job system works. The only annoying thing is trying to find items because it can take FOREVER. And for whatever reason almost every monster is faster than 3 of my party members all the time. I didn't think priest or ranger would be particularly slow classes, compared to my faster than light martial artist. Oh well. Hahaha the only game i played that had a job system was Final Fantasy 3 and i hated having monsters faster than me xD I'm really wanting to play the game now D: I guess they can't make finding items to easy eh? xD Dragon Quest IX - JaredTheUnseen - 2010-07-23 DQIX is a lot like Final Fantasy III in terms of the job system. After a certain part in the story you can switch jobs, but doing so puts you to level 1 in that job. But you keep all skill points you've put in, so if you put a lot of points into sword as a thief, then change to a warrior, you'd still have all those skill points into sword, even at level 1. Probably doesn't make sense, but it will after playing for a bit :p Oh and to remedy the low drop rate, just set your birthday to the current day on your DS. Increased drop rate! Dragon Quest IX - Polka - 2010-08-02 got this on launch and have 115 hours put in, trying to level the hero's vocations but after they get to 50 it's difficult even on slime hill (angel falls). revocation will be madness can't believe so few people here have played this as it is one of the best ds games this year. so much content with downloadable new quests weekly and cameos tri-weekly. it's an amazing game Dragon Quest IX - JaredTheUnseen - 2010-08-03 Finished the main story a few days ago, now I'm doing tons of post game stuff before doing all the grotto quests. I like how there's so much to do ![]() I'm going to an event they have this weekend at Best Buy, then another one at a mall right next to Best Buy. Hope there's lots of people to canvass/play with. My friend went to one last weekend at GameStop and he had lots of fun and got a special map. Dragon Quest IX - Super_cyp - 2010-08-03 15 days til its released here rawr! Argh I seriously want to play it D: Sounds like its really awesome I played DQ Monster joker a little while back.. That was awesome, I like the Dragonquest series. There always seems to be lots to do, and most of them turn out good.. Theres events related to the game? Sounds interesting, I wonder if any will occur here. Dragon Quest IX - IllegallySane - 2010-08-14 I have downloaded it, but I'm now wondering whether to actually buy it. I already put 15 hours into the game yet I'm only level 20 on my main characters. I want to be able to unlock the other classes. The Mage Knight is a pretty nice improvement over a Thief for my 4th character. The Mage Knight is a pretty nice improvement over a Thief for my 4th character. you absolutely should buy it because of the daily dlc. i just broke 200 hours and i'm loving every minute of it. i've re-rolled my minstrel 3/10 times and i've gotten a godly grotto that's packed with metal kiing slime, though not like the legendary masayuki map. Dragon Quest IX - IllegallySane - 2010-09-01 I caved, and bought the actual game and I don't regret a single moment of it. About 32 hours so far. Got 5/7 fyggs. How do you get godly grottos? Also, I am trying to think of good class skill combos. So far I went from Minstret -> Gladiator (for Double Up) and back to Minstrel. 2nd character is Martial Artist to Warrior for extra STR and HP, and back. 3rd character is a Priest to Paladin (for M-Pathy) and back. 4th character was Wizard (for Magic Ward) to Warrior for STR/HP and Metal Slash, to Armamentalist (for buffs and debuffs. Sap is amazing for boss battles; 2 stacks of Sap + 100 tensioned Martial Artist equals over 300-500 damage from one attack). I don't know where to get a Toxic Dagger for the Ranger class, and i heard Superstar and Sage are only after you beat the game. Is there a non-grotto related metal slime heaven, or at least a place where metal slime type monsters appear more often than usual? On a side note, I need to change my router's network key back to a WEP; if only my DS can support non-WEP network keys. :< Dragon Quest IX - Doxinator - 2010-09-01 IllegallySane Wrote:I caved, and bought the actual game and I don't regret a single moment of it. About 32 hours so far. Got 5/7 fyggs. Godly Grottos are all luck...But to get a better grotto, it is reccommended to level up and revocate several-a-time. Worry about grottos after the end of the game. Toxic Dagger is also a skill, not an actual dagger. I believe it's acquired after getting 6 skill points in the Knives skill area. You can easily do that with a thief. Non-grotto metal slime heaven that's non-grotto related...Just go to liquid metal slimes once you get to the dungeon called the Bowhole. You're still a ways away from that, by the sounds of it. Once you're in Bloomindale though (I believe it's called) you can go into the Bad Cave and hunt Medleys there. Then post-game there is a metal slime heaven. And don't fret too much about changing vocations around a lot yet until later in the game. I didn't really mess aroudn with it til post-game. I just had the standard minstrel, thief, priest, and mage party. Worked out great the whole game. Only revocating I did was to get early bonuses like +HP from gladiato, etc, from class specific skills. And I think that kind of covers it. Dragon Quest IX - IllegallySane - 2010-09-01 Well I got the ship already and I just got my 6th fygg so I should be rather far in the game (I think). As for metal slime heaven, I'll definitely look out for Bowhole. Metal Medleys aren't too shabby, but their nature of running away always irks me, especially since my main ways of killing them are relying on 2 characters using Metal Slash, one attacking, and one using Thunder Spear; this gives them usually 2-3 chances to run away. I miss the DQIV moments of Alena critting Metal Slime Kings pretty much every 3rd-4th hit with Falcon Knife Earrings before they can even move. Dragon Quest IX - y0y0y0y0shi0 - 2010-09-01 I've been playing it for the past few days now. BEST. DS GAME. EVER. Dragon Quest IX - Sarah - 2010-09-01 I convinced 3 people to buy this (Doxinator included) and have loved every second of the 255 hours I've put into it. I am now, however, a little discouraged since learning that I will need 30 tags to unlock the entire inn expansion. Finding 30 people who play the game, even in this busy city, is not likely. I've considered buying a second copy just to get the 30 tags myself, but I dunno yet. Luckily the DLC content will ensure I load it up every day. I might end up buying a second copy once I get a 3DS just because if I don't get 100% then I'll feel like I wasted 255+ hours of my life. Dragon Quest IX - Five Second Pose - 2010-09-12 After seeing how vocal Sarah is about how good this game is, I am considering purchasing it by November. I know Dragon Quest is an RPG, but is there anything else special about it? |
