More Potential/Enhancement Questions - CrossMyHeart - 2010-07-09

Regarding the Potential System:

How does the actual level of the equip effect the +% rate of the equip?

1-30 = ?
31-70= ?
70-120=?
121+ =?

Regarding the Enhancement System:

I understand each scroll has a 80%->70%->60% etc progressive success rate etc

But what does the scroll actually add? I heard 2 conflicting stories

A) It adds a chaos scroll type effect
B) It adds +2 STR/DEX/LUK/INT (depending on the type of scroll)

The problem with the answers I have obtained as of yet is the confliction. The stories seem to contradict each other.

For example: It is commonly said that level of the equip changes the actual % stats added. In simpler terms, the higher the level, the better the % stats.

I stumbled upon this picture: http://spadow.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/potentialscrollratingbexample2.png?w=518&h=351

Clearly a LVL 30 equip with a +6% addition. Is it possibly a test server picture?

See what I mean? That's just one of the variances. I'd like an ultimate straight answer from someone who is truly in depth on the subject.

I've been following this system for quite a while. I've been comparing information from people who are playing with these +% boosts.

That level 30 equip should NOT be able to get a +6% from what we know 0.o
I'm in the middle of asking Fiel right now if any of the data regarding potential boosts have been changed.

I'll let you know what he says.

As far as we KNEW, the boosts were as you saw in the other thread. But this... is just odd 0.o

The screenshot of the blade is from April, which, if I remember correctly, is before the Potential and Enhancement systems were finalized.

As for what the enhancment scroll does:

 Before
 After

I'd say it's random, I'll try to find a screen shot from before I scrolled it to compare.

Here we go:

 Before any enhancement scrolls

I used 7 100%s, so it went from 38atk/66matk to 1luk/39atk/68matk to 1int/1luk/14mp/40atk/70matk.

Slightly off topic, what server is that and how rare/common is the Enhancement scroll for you to be wasting it on a lvl40 staff?

It's from Tespia, and I've only found two in the entire time I've been playing; however, there were quite a few in the FM a while back.

I'm pretty sure they're pretty common if they're only like 3m in kMS, Culverin at least.

Hmmm, "pretty common" is good. Big Grin

Oh, and according to Spadow's blog post from when the enhancement system was first released, the more scrolls you use on an item, the higher the benefits you recieve from the next scroll. Makes sense, I went from 1luk/1atk/2matk to 1int/14mp/1atk/2matk.

Higher risk, higher rewards.

Wait but the actual question was never answered. How exactly does the level of the actual equip being "potentialed" change what +% stats it obtains?

For example: I saw a LVL 120 Sword with a +12 +12 stat bonus HERE ::: http://i31.tinypic.com/2yyte2q.jpg

So it is safe to assume LVL 120+ equips can achieve a +12 bonus kicker.

What about the rest? What are the level cutoffs for certain buffs?

This is my MAIN question.

It's like a chaos scroll exept it can only add stats in a random way.

As for the bonus it probably depends on what the equip is, common, rare, special, epic.

As for the Blade, I'll take iAmFear's words for it, it probably was taken from before the system was finalized. For the Nibelheim though, it's +1. Epic troll is epic.

The data taken from this patch showed the following:

Quote:
 Rare

 Epic

 Unique

It's up to you to decipher how those levels play out, but with a few precedences (Monster Crystal levels for one), I'd say it's safe to assume the above to be correct.

The odd thing that stands out to me is the 71-120 and 120-200 overlap. Shouldn't it be 121 + like all the rest? Then again... http://i31.tinypic.com/2yyte2q.jpg shows a lvl 120 sword with +12.

Just a comment really.

You answered my question perfectly though. Thanks to you my friend.

Again, that is not +12, it's +1. And yes, it should be 121~200, since the last tier starts at level.13.

Hm, how is it possible for a lvl 120 sword to only get a +1 boost? Even in it's lowest form, a rare (lowest form) level 71-120 item should be a +3, no?

More Potential/Enhancement Questions - Grey - 2010-07-09

It's because the +1 isn't from the Potential system, it's a function of Reverse/Timeless equips to give you +1 SP to a certain skill at a 10% chance when it reaches the maximum level. In this case, a Reverse Nibleheim would give +1 to Brave Slash and +1 to Blast.

Also, if you look at the link to the blade, within the link is 2010/04, April of 2010.

Ah, got it. Yep, I see what it is now.

One more thought:

Is it possible to "magnifying glass" an item with 2 identical stats?

AKA a weapon for : +9% W ATT, +9 % W ATT

I would have assumed not until I saw this image:

http://i45.tinypic.com/2j2693m.jpg

It shows a pair of earrings with THREE identical stats (+9 %DEX +6 %DEX, +6%DEX). This is most likely a dropped equip (from mobs) since there are multiple earrings above it as well.

This begs the question, can this potentially add 3 identical stats if you're lucky enough?

More Potential/Enhancement Questions - shouri - 2010-07-09

Yes it can. You could end up with three +9% stat boosts if you get stupidly lucky.

More Potential/Enhancement Questions - CrossMyHeart - 2010-07-09

Very interesting. I wonder what the chances of that happening are?

Assuming each stat has an equal chance of happening and up to 9 different possibilities, it might be difficult enough to find the stat you are looking for via the magnifying glasses with (9X9) different possibilities.

FOR EXAMPLE: Gloves have :::: Gloves - Stat %, W.DEF, M.DEF, Avoidability, Accuracy %, Chance of recovering HP/MP when attacking, +% of a potion, Max HP/MP, Chance of Autosteal

That's a lot of possible skills. Getting 2 stats you want would be 1 of 89 different possibilities. In other words on average it would take 89 tries to get it?

Sound about right?
