Questions on the Potential System - Will - 2010-06-17
I never heard all that much about the potential system besides the fact that it practically broke everything until now, and I had two questions.
1) Exactly how does it work? (Like what's needed, what do you do, etc)
and 2) How accessible is it? Can pretty much anyone take advantage of it or is it pretty much for rich people/merchants?
Questions on the Potential System - Stereo - 2010-06-17
1) Find an equip.
Find a potential scroll (drops from any monster).
70% success - makes the equip "unidentified"
30% fail - destroys the equip.
If it works, buy a magnifying glass (cost depends on level or something, but no more than about 100k mesos).
When you use the magnifying glass, the item gains 2 or 3 bonuses randomly.
- stats (int/luk/etc.)
- atk
- acc/avoid
- percent stats
- percent attack
- percent damage
- facial expressions
- etc.
Number you get depends on a) level of equip, b) quality of identification, c) luck. Higher level higher quality gear can end up with up to +9% to a stat.
If you don't like the stats you got, you can buy a Magic Box from the cash shop for 1500nx. This resets the item to "unidentified" and you can try over.
2) Anyone can use it, only merchants will end up with much of the +27% dex kind of gear, cause better stats are rarer and the equips will cost more.

still basically means the lucky and the rich can get their hands on the scrolls much easier than the normal maplers. I hope that the scrolls are somewhat common so that i can maybe buy some. otherwise I'm pretty screwed mesos wise.

One thing to clarify; you can find unidentified drops normally. The scrolls for making an item unidentified are nice for when making something, but its best to use the 90% ones you get from box bundles in CS on existing equips that may already be scrolled.
