I was actually thinking the same thing. Wailord itself is pretty hax. One would assume that it's ENTIRELY MUSCLE or something, but at the same time it's so light... It only adds to the mystery. A balloon that can be forced down such a depth? It can survive down there as well?

So, psychic abilities that shield it from water pressure, and have enough force to drag it down that far?

No no, you don't understand. Paras is an insect that's been infected by the mushroom. The mushroom is a parasitic lifeform that controls the bug host.

In other words, it's implying that Nincada becomes Paras when it's taken over by a mushroom. Doesn't really work though, considering Paras are born with mushroom spores, but it is pretty interesting. They're both cicada (or at least Paras looks like one).

Reminds me of the "Butterfree actually evolves from Venonat, and Metapod actually evolves into Venomoth" thing. It was more apparent in the old official artwork. The newer artwork makes Metapod and Venomoth have less of a resemblance (used to have the same eyes). Butterfree and Venonat still look like they're in the same evolution chain though.
