10% from NA. How many areas are there? Korea, Japan, China, Viet, HK, Europe, Brazil, and NA? Averages at 12% per, so NA is below par....
Interesting.

NA NX's everything and makes less than Korea and their perma NX. Lawlz.

My opinion of this is because quite frankly, the turnover rate for players of MMOs is relatively high, at least in the first few months. I think that people who are looking for a new game give each a shot until they find one that they can sink into. With the perma method, they already got the $ from people who leave and those who stay don't need to worry about repeated charges. That or we just have a really small population in comparison. Or the fact that gaming can be seen as a profession in some places over there. Heck, I'm not sure what the real reason is, but it makes sense to me.

After I settled into MS, I spent $ on them every so often, but after 3 years of this I looked back at myself and said "wow, I've already spent 200$ on this 'free' game, what the heck to I have to show for it?" That ultimately stopped my NX purchases; however I do admit if they made items perma, I might buy a card maybe twice a year again.

Ultimately this shows that some sort of changes should be made since they can't even keep up with other regions. Maybe do something substantial for long time players so they don't feel left out?

Nexon Japan and Korea have at least 10-20 games total. They have a ton to reap off of.

575 Million profit... as to be expected from a worldwide free-to-enter internet kids casino where mommy's creditcard does all the talking...

Gotta say, brilliant marketing strategy Nexon, since kids aren't allowed into casino's to rip them off, you just have to create something that makes the same kind of money in almost the same way and something that looks oh-so harmless to the outside world...

Maplestory... the worldwide free-to-enter internet casino for kids... gamble on everything, always loose in the end, because the house always wins... :')

I should also make a kids internet casino... I'm gonna get so rich by ripping-off kids... Glitter

I play Chinese kartrider, it seems spending 100 yuan/year ($13/year) is enough to be a full cash shop hore in that game.

It is for a pretty much global business with millions of players and tons of games to run. And that would take a lot of money to keep up, so you can cut off a huge chunk of that right now and that's what they have left.

I'd have to wonder how handling millions of players takes away any of their money, beside the hardware upgrade which they did once or twice in the last 4 years. (Nexon NA)

The big shots still manage to pocket quite a load, as with every business I guess. The upkeep isn't as high as you think it is, considering the salaries of all employed, the cost to maintain the servers (and they could be maintaining their own to be honest, I'm not sure how that's usually done), the property costs, etc.

Micro-sales are becoming effective, but other gaming companies still manage to make millions and millions more. You're right, the cash is somewhat small-time comparatively, but they still do good for themselves.

Nexon Rakes in 575.5 Million - Fiel - 2010-05-30

pretty sure they're maintaining their own servers. The IP for the login server routes to their corporate HQ.
