 Spoiler
I got a 5 pound bag of uncooked black pearls and made 2 cups of them today... it turned out to be like 300 bobas.
I split them up between 5 of my family members in some Chai tea i made, and they wtp'ed at how many they had. (I even bought boba straws)

Nice. Email me some, 'kay?

Eh, do people actually call it that in English? o_o

The Chinese meaning of Boba (波霸Wink, is... not what you think it is although Boba is generally used to mean Bubble Tea. 波霸奶茶 is Bubble Tea though. Maybe it's just me but it sounds weird when Boba is used in English.

I came into this thread expecting a lifesized model of Boba Fett with a working jetpack.

I leave this thread with my hopes and dreams shattered.

I came into this thread not knowing what the hell "Boba" could mean. I am now leaving knowing that it could have been something much, much more interesting.

My family calls it boba...

I made BOBA! - Kevo - 2010-05-25

I guess I'm just trying to say it sounds kinda awkward if it's used in English... it's just awkward and I've never heard people use Boba in English... they usually call it Bubble Tea. How do non Chinese even pronounce Boba?

In Canto, Boba (the exact characters) also means.... :O

I made BOBA! - Rhayn - 2010-05-25

The Canto people I know refer to it as 珍珠奶茶. People in Sydney tend to translate that directly, so it becomes Pearl Milk Tea.

I made BOBA! - Kevo - 2010-05-25

Yeah, I hear people use that too. But in English, it's Bubble Tea still. Maybe it's just a regional thing.

I've bought it as Bubble Tea from a stand called Boba Brothers when I'm on vacation.

You're now SP's Bubble Tea slave, btw.
