Kiyo can't graphic design - K!yO - 2010-05-19

So today I finished my 2nd project for my graphic design class. We had to make a vector out of a cartoon style drawing. Out of the whole class, I chose the hardest picture with the most detail, as everyone else so to do pictures of Homer Simpson, Sailor Moon, and Catdog Goggleemoticon. Anyway, I didn't have the time to catch every detail of the picture, but for my first time using Illustator to this extent, I think I did a good job.

You did a GREAT job, just time to refine and pay attention to those little details.

Good job on the shading!

Hair could've used some, though.

Great job on it! I used to have a Graphics Design / Multimedia class before, we had to use CorelDraw, etc etc etc. But uh, yeah, did you use the clone-tool for the bg?

Thnx, I couldn't figure out where to start, or what shade to use on the hair since most of it was pretty much the same tone. Oh, and for the background, I just used the pen tool, made a rectangle, and stretched it out of the page.

I wish I could go into Graphic Design class this year :/ I applied for it but got moved to Drawing and Painting cause Graphics was full. I'm going to be really pissed if I don't get in next year.

Good job on your vector.

...At first I thought the final design was the original picture. It really did remind me of an anime character.

But yes, as Loose said, the hair could've used a bit of shading. And, you forgot to add in a few things, such as the bracelets and the cross on his pocket.

I think the vector looks really good!

Along with the hair shading thing, maybe try to transform the picture to being a bit more >> <<

It might just be the monitor im using, but the picture looks like it was squished

Yea, I was playing around with the hair a bit earlier; I could've done a lot more. I didn't do the doodads on the pockets and the tastles, because when I zoomed in, they were too pixalized for me to tell what to do really. Thats also why the picture looks so wide, I had to stretch it out to fit an 8x11.5 paste board; So yea, it was a little distorted.

Oh yah, thnx =D

Oh, that makes sense.

Then again, you could have just made the image into the size that would fit on that board, and then dropped the good sized picture onto it.
It would only leave you with a tad more room on the sides in yellow.
