AMVs that aren't horrible - Yotsuba - 2010-05-07
I'll be honest. I hate AMVs in general, and find most of them pretty bad. I tend to stay away from them.
However, some of them are pretty nice, since the creator actually took time to plan the scenes, timing, and get a fitting song for whatever they're making. Y'know, videos that aren't "LET ME PUT MY FAVORITE SCENE WITH MY FAVORITE SONG!" or "I WITH THIS SONG WAS PLANING IN THE BACKGROUND OF THIS PARTICULAR SCENE. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COOL. WHY WOULD I ADD OTHER SCENES BE ADDED, THIS FIGHT SCENE IS SO AWESOME THAT I DON'T NEED OTHER SCENES!"
I may not like the music choices in these, but I do acknowledge that whoever made these did put time into them. So, regardless of if I like the songs or not, I'll be throwing in some videos I found pretty well made.

This one is short, but I found the editing to be nice in it. Nice balance of effects and source content, and some scenes were cleverly put together. There are series in there that would never fit the song used for this, but the makers of this one picked out clips and made them fit with the song.

This is pretty old. Dunno if there's a better quality version somewhere, too lazy to check around. The timing in this was pretty nice. Can't imagine how long it took to sync some of this, and pick out the scenes that would fit it.

This was is pretty nicely edited, without being too cluttered by them. Remember, if you want to toggle the comments, just press the little voice bubble with the ... in it. Sometimes the comments are nice, but there are points in the video where the comments are just made to spam that particular part of the video.

For me, it's not that AMVs are terrible, but some people just rush/half ass their video, thinking they can just stick in a song and expect it to flow with the scenes. It's been a while since I saw AMVs, but I remember a couple gems.

WHO'S THAT POKEMON?! I also like how one of the AMVs was "THE BEST, THE BEST, THE BEST, THE BEST!"
Way back in 2007 or so, a year after I had learned all about AMVs and the like, Yahoo once put up a headline on Valentine's Day that said something along the lines of "Celebrate Valentine's Day with an AMV!" and the caption was saying something about nothing being a better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than to watch "romantic" AMVs. For a few kicks, when you clicked the link the headline showed you: an Inuyasha AMV would show on YouTube all about Inuyasha and Kagome set to CUZ EVERY TIME WE TOUCH, and worse yet: subs everywhere, clips didn't match music very well- and when they did match, it was really forced and awkward, and of course- the obvious. Thought that might be worth mentioning to you.

This is the only video that comes to mind when I think "well made AMVs". Most AMVs I watch are for the music. (It's easier to find good quality audio in an amv than searching for the song name)
