Why does everyone hate Naruto? - Pikamemnon - 2010-05-05 Before they showed Naruto on CN, I saw a girl in my class with a poster. I thought to myself: that is the stupidiest thing I have ever seen. Ninjas don't wear orange, GTFO. Later that same school year there was a guy watching Naruto on his computer. I tried to watch it but the lack of english voice acting confused and angered me. The show had violence going for it but if I wanted to read I would have picked up a book. Fast forward a bit and I am lucky enough to watch some Naruto on Cartoon Network. Ha ha, it ended up becoming one of my favorite shows. So what I learned from all of this is that even if something appears silly/ idiotic at first glance, most of the time those things can turn out to be pretty decent. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - Dusk - 2010-05-05 I dunno, it looks like typical fighting anime pomegranate that is only appealing to 10 year olds. I don't personally have anything against Naruto. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - Rob - 2010-05-05 Bland plot, cliche anime twists, the zomg we are airing episode 548 gets old fast these days. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - MetaSeraphim - 2010-05-05 We already have enough anime and mangas about preteen emo homosexuals. They end up having really bad pacing (IE : Dragon Ball Z), and filler episodes that shouldn't be there. Also, not a big fan of the ninja aspect of the anime. Seems boring. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - Takebacker - 2010-05-05 Lol @ people talking about the naruto anime. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - Rob - 2010-05-05 The OP never mentioned the mango whatsoever, what do you expect us to talk about silly Steve? Why does everyone hate Naruto? - IllegallySane - 2010-05-05 Naruto is the Twilight of the manga industry. It wouldn't be so bad if Sasuke didn't get so many asspulls and plot armor, Sakura isn't such a waste of manga pages and have a stupid obsession with Sasuke, and the plot didn't make you go "What the hell just happened"? My only drive left for that series is finishing it. Oh Pre-Shippuden Naruto, where did you go? Before, it was a nice little series about aspiring ninjas. Now you have EMOSUKE butting heads with everyone he comes across and almost dies because his enemy is vastly superior only to suddenly have a victory handed to him at the last minute by some convoluted asspull that doesn't make sense even by Naruto's standards. Want a great example of this? EMOSUKE somehow summoning a giant snake, controlled it to let it enter it's mouth, and avoiding a POINT BLANK EXPLOSION JUST AS DEIDARA EXPLODES WITH ENOUGH POWER TO BE A NUCLEAR BOMB NO LESS THAN 2 FEET AWAY. NOT ONLY THAT, SASUKE WAS CLEARLY OUT OF CHAKRA. HOW DO YOU SUMMON A HUGE ASS SNAKE WITH INSUFFICIENT CHAKRA? HE'S NOT NARUTO HE DOESN'T HAVE A BACKUP RESERVE NOR INSANE STAMINA. I really want him to just die because he's the plague of the series. Sakura is no better, but taking out Sasuke also takes out Sakura's stupid obsession. It's terrible when Sakura tries to tell Naruto that she loves him, when Naruto clearly saw through her lie and tears it apart. Honestly, Sasuke is why Naruto sucks. One Piece, now there's good shyt. (most think it's a s'hitty series anyway though) Why does everyone hate Naruto? - LDIntensity - 2010-05-05 I don't hate it. I just think it was silly. I watched it last year or something, didn't really enjoy most of it but at the end I just wanted to finish the whole thing. I don't know much about anime or manga, I have watched some and I "love"/like really few ones. As for why some might hate it? Because it's childish, tries to cover interesting topics but it does it in such a cheezy/ silly way, some chapters are a waste, most scenes are a waste aswell, not so perv as other...I don't know...people can hate something for serveral reasons. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - Corn - 2010-05-05 Well, it sucked in the beginning. It's pretty good now. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - Erich - 2010-05-05 The fans; the generic plot; the fact they beat the same horse around; and the fact they milk the series for all they can. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - Yotsuba - 2010-05-05 Aside from the actual series itself, the western fanbase is horrible. I don't mind people liking Naruto, they can like what they want to like. Consider the following - A person likes Twilight, but doesn't really make a huge deal of the series. They enjoy it, but don't particularly boast about it and try to spread the word about how amazing it is. They don't get butthurt when it comes to criticism over the series, and they acknowledge the faults of the series. They don't have a bookbag with twilight pins all over it, or a notebook that's plastered with "deep" quotes from the series. In other words, you wouldn't know they liked it until it came up in a conversation. They're not Twilight 24/7. I have no problem with this type of person. I may not agree with their tastes, but that doesn't really make me think any less of them just because they don't like the same things as I do. However, there's the person who does the exact opposite. They voice their love for Twilight whenever they can, they annoy everyone talking about it. They scream for joy when they find someone else who likes it. They believe it to be one of the best pieces of work from this generation. These people are annoying. Unfortunately, while these kinds of Twilight fans stand out as a bad representation of the fanbase as a whole, Narutards represent anyone at all who likes anime. In other words, they're the kind of people that people associate anime viewers to, because they stand out as obnoxious. "Oh man, check this out. It's so edgy. Blood, fighting, ADULT THEMES. NOT FOR KIDS! It's so cool!" It's embarrassing being associated with people like that. But they stand out like a sore thumb, so it's unavoidable. I don't care much about it, since I don't interact with people offline too much, but I can really see where the hate is from. Pikamemnon, I don't know you in real life, but for some reason you strike me as a Narutard offline. It was one of my earliest shows, and I enjoyed it. For a while. I think there were ~110-130 episodes out then and the first 50 or 60 were perfectly enjoyable. Hell, I liked it. Then stuff hit the emo-fan and then the fillers started. Since this was right at the start of my anime viewing, I really didn't know what filler was. Never occured to me I could skip it and not miss a thing. So I sat through another 30 or so episodes of it and finally gave up. That was miserable. Would only wish it on my worst enemies. Since I was already at the upper end of the target audience back then, I have zero interest in going back now. I did learn my lesson though, so when I wanted to know what the fuss was about for Bleach, I skipped every filler episode and had a much better experience with that show. Now and then I like to watch some really brainless shounen, so I catch up a little Bleach. I think I'm 3 seasons behind right now, but eh. Whatever. It's getting a little too much like DBZ pacing. I watched it in the beginning too, but then it got boring to me. I moved on to the manga, but that got boring to me as well. This was back before it was extremely popular. The fanbase was just growing by this point. The only Endless Action series that I'm currently into is Negima, and that doesn't take itself seriously, and Ken already said the series is over the halfway point. Why does everyone hate Naruto? - madanthony - 2010-05-05 It's an anime gateway drug for 10-14 year-olds. I think I've asked this before, but if I wanted to catch up Negima, I'd be better off just doing the whole manga vs. the OVAs, ya? No. The OVAs don't cover much of the story at all, they're meant to be seen if you've already read up to those points. It's just animated parts of the manga, but you'd be completely lost if you tried to jump into them.
