Which gender of pokemon do you usually have? - IllegallySane - 2010-04-15

I'm sure we have our tendency to either have guy pokemon or girl pokemon. Or maybe you like legendaries so it's ambiguous.

Me, I used to have teams of all guy Pokemon until I found out breeding more of the same Pokemon requires a female. Later on then, I usually have a female starter and females of the really hard to find pokemon, and could care less what is the gender of my pokemon as long as they seem strong. Now in Soul Silver though, my strongest Pokemon based on IV calculations ARE female, which makes me lol because I currently tote an all girl's team, exclusing my 2 HM slaves, which are incidentally guys. What gender is your team mostly based around?

Well, as far as I recall, my teams consist mostly of males, but I don't pick them, I just catch the first one.

I...don't really care? I try to balance it out, if anything. Usually I just take what I get.

Guess I'd go with Loose's answer, though I don't strictly follow that. I have a female Kingdra and Aggron.

If it looks manly (Machamp, Scizor) Male, if it looks girly (Gardevoir, Mismagius) Female. If it can go either way (Meowth, Ekans) I don't care.

I usually try to get a balance of all three. If I don't have a genderless or two, I'll usually have half/half male/female. I think I've had an all male team before. Never had an all female one. It honestly doesn't matter all that much to me. Often that's just how it works out.

It doesn't really matter to me. I don't tend to think "Wow, I want this Pokemon, but it's female so I'll just wait for a male to turn up."

Even if they're Pokemon that have a significant difference between genders, such was Wobbuffet with lipstick, I don't mind having one or the other. Maybe if they make the gender differences more noticeable in Gen V.

At the moment, my main team is all male though, It's completely by chance, but I don't mind.

Yeah, most Pokemon can go either way. If it's a very feminine Pokemon, or masculine Pokemon, I'd prefer to get their respective gender. I wouldn't mind too much if I didn't though.

Gardevoir is unisex (meaning that it can be a man or a woman). Although it looks girly to me. The game designers decided to make Gardevoir a unisex Pokemon just so the males aren't left out just like the male Combees are left out, because they have a female-only evolution.

I typically go with either gender. I stick with Pokemon with certain gender (like a Female Bellossom for an example).

I don't care. I catch them how they are.

EG; I have a Female Sudowoodo, Male Espeon, etc.

Sudowoodo seems like it can fo both genders to me. Espeon as well, but I actually think of it as a retty masculine Pokemon. Probably just me.

If it looks masculine, then male. Feminine, then feminine.

All of my Pokemon on my Shoddy team are male. I should make all of them female, since most Attract/Charm users on Shoddy are female, but who the hell uses that move anyways?

Mine are mostly males, just because they're more common. But, I really don't care. Genders don't mean a thing to me, unless I need to breed them.

Which gender of pokemon do you usually have? - Hazzy - 2010-04-15

I only care about gender when there's a physical appearnce difference. Maybe if that breed has a low rate of one, ie starters. Otherwise its w/e I get dealt with and/or when ever I get a workable Nature. (ie, does NOT cut Attack on a physical attacker)

Which gender of pokemon do you usually have? - IllegallySane - 2010-04-15

I am more of an IV person, because I once had a high overall IV Feebas, but I had a male Feebas that had superior stats in the areas that it needed. I think it was Sp. Def. and HP, while also having the nature I needed to evolve it to a Milotic. Needless it say, it felt so weird having a male Milotic, because they always seemed more girly to me. Gender is a close 2nd. If I can, I'd get away with females, because it'd be cool that way to defeat another trainer with beefed up female Pokemans.

Again for me, IVs and sometimes nature trumps gender. But because of Soul Silver and the luck I've been having trying to find strong male pokemon, I may try to have an all girl's team with high IVs for the lulz. Also their reactions for when they like you gets really cute. I am not sure if high happiness male pokemon ever hug or cuddle up with you, especially if you are a male trainer.

Milotic seems like it could go either way to me.

Which gender of pokemon do you usually have? - Will - 2010-04-15

Surprisingly, most are female.

With a description like the Tender Pokemon, and streaks of pink, not to mention it's cry, feels more like a female.

Eh, still seems either way. It's much more red than pink, and the male's "hair" is shorter, too.
