As the title indicates, I've been having trouble playing for more than ten minutes at a time due to the frequent disconnects and overall laggy nature of the game. The slowness does, unfortunately, carry over to the internet as a whole.

I regularly use System Mechanic to clear my computer of junk files/spyware/etc, so I am not sure why the internet is so slow in general.

if it carries over as a whole, you should call your ISP, maybe they're working on something around your area and is causing the problem. Else they probably would send in someone to that area to check it out.

Oddly enough, they were here a few months ago to service the internet, and change the wiring and such. It worked brilliantly ever since, until recently.

At least Nexon is working on your problem. They have asked certain players to do tracert tests.

Hooray for that! I'm glad Nexon's realized there's an issue and are working on it.
