Shouldn't "the civil rights act of the 21st century" be equality for everyone regardless of gender/orientation/ethnicity/musical preference/religion/favorite color not federally mandated health insurance? Rolleyes

Haha agreed. The article was also up on Comcast the second they hit the magic 216, claiming the vote was 219-212, when it really ended as 220-211. Guess that's another metaphor for jumping the gun on what you can call this historic passage.

Still 90 more years in the century. Let's hope Human Equality Acts protecting all peoples, regardless of everything you listed, are passed in the coming decades!

Americans would be so much more likely to pay taxes if the government calculated everything for them. Instead, they have to spend money and time on programs such as TurboTax. Also, the average American doesn't realize that people in other countries are paying much higher taxes than they are. =\

Taxes are heavy imo. You get taxed at so many levels that it isnt funny. Just to name a few off the top of my head; state, federal, local taxes, sales taxes on levels ranging from consumer and producer, as well as a few others.

In california, theres a "global warming solutions" bill thats seeks to cut carbon dioxide (you know, the stuff we exhale....) by a large number, but its being said and reported from many places that it will both raise taxes, and will create a million jobs lost. Recently, the DWP rates were raised to help prepare for the bill. Expected spikes of around 28% may be seen.
