The Gaia hypothesis is an ecological hypothesis proposing that the biosphere and the physical components of the Earth (atmosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere) are closely integrated to form a complex interacting system that maintains the climatic and biogeochemical conditions on Earth in a preferred homeostasis. Originally proposed by James Lovelock as the earth feedback hypothesis,[1] it was named the Gaia Hypothesis after the Greek supreme goddess of Earth.[2] The hypothesis is frequently described as viewing the Earth as a single organism. never heard of the cryosphere before. otherwise, interesting. but what is [3]; or is it that im reading that backwards and the text between 2 and 3 is three?

ahh, i had figured it was either the ice caps or an area underneath the crust, though the latter just didnt make sense due to the heat of the core. =/
surprised no one mentioned any other uses of gaia outside of roman mythos and the forum/website. well, swerve did, but thats an aside. Like, the world of Filgaia from wild arms 3, iirc the djinn from golden sun for earth was named gaia, though its been a while so i doubt im right on that regard, or anything else.
