Metroid Prime Trilogy - Doctor Omega - 2010-01-22 I can't be the only Metroid fan to browse these boards. ![]() I just finished Metroid Prime 1 on the Trilogy pack for the Wii, and was pleasantly surprised. Though Retro removed 95% of the good sequence breaks, playing the game through normally for the first time since I bought the GCN version was quite refreshing. Since I had played all three (before the trilogy was released) many, many times, I figured once I got used to the Wii controls, things wouldn't be so bad. Well, I was right for the most part, as I breezed through the game pretty easily up until Meta Ridley, who killed me five times before I won with half an energy tank left. For those of you unfamiliar with Metroid Prime, in the first installment, the NTSC and PAL versions were vastly different. What they did in the trilogy, was they incorporated most of the GCN PAL version differences into the NTSC version of the trilogy on the Wii, making the game quite different if you've never played PAL. And with Meta Ridley, he had one more attack in the PAL version than in NTSC, which was a jumping shockwave attack, which took damned near two energy tanks away when caught in the middle of it. There were SO many differences in that fight from the GCN to the Wii, that I stopped counting after five or six. He is INSANELY harder to hit in the trilogy once his health is down past a quarter of his health bar. He also recovers from his dash attack MUCH quicker and the massive tail sweep he does after dashing is ridiculously fast as well; much faster than in the GCN version. And since the sequence breaking tricks were removed (Scan Dashing, Combat Dashing, and lots of terrain changes), the combat dash is quite a bit shorter, making dodging his dash attack extremely difficult, if not damn near impossible. All in all, Metroid Prime 1 on the Wii was tons of fun. Like I said earlier, I wasn't used to beating the game normally, so beating as such was a nice change of pace. At any rate, I haven't started Echoes or Corruption on the Trilogy disc yet, so I plan to do that either tonight or tomorrow. No idea if this thread will get any attention, but hey, it's all good. I just wanted to put this out here because I love this game so far. It's definitely worth $50. And just a little side note to those of you who may have been debating buying it: If you don't buy it, you may not be able to because from what I've heard/read from lots of websites is that they're going to stop making it after a while. So, get it while you can! Metroid Prime Trilogy - MaxHudson - 2010-01-28 Yeah! I bought this randomly a month or two ago! Amazed, I've never played a metroid game before, and this is a awesome series! After beating prime 1 in a week beat prime 2 in 2 weeks and prime 3 in 3 weeks! I love the Wii controls so much better then analog/keyboard/mouse! Story line is nice, I like how you have to scan things to understand! Also, after beating the first three, I got Super Metroid and loved that! Metroid Prime Trilogy - DarkPwnage - 2010-01-29 MaxHudson Wrote:Yeah! I bought this randomly a month or two ago! You should play Metroid Fusion as well. Fusion is still my favorite 2-D Metroid. Metroid Prime Trilogy - Takebacker - 2010-01-29 Unfortunately they only reason to buy this is because of the added wii controls to the first 2 games. Those who followed the series up to now likely already have all 3 games, so the point in buying this isn't really there. Metroid Prime Trilogy - MaxHudson - 2010-01-31 Yeah, I can understand that, however if you've never played a Metroid game like I did, MAKE sure you get this, since its 50$ for three full games that use Wiimote controls in a nonwaggle way! I'm exsited for Other M also, Nintendo.JP has a website for it already! The music is beautiful ! It makes me almost sad =] http://metroid.jp/ Metroid Prime Trilogy - IllegallySane - 2010-01-31 Takebacker Wrote:Unfortunately they only reason to buy this is because of the added wii controls to the first 2 games. I bought the Trilogy on Black Friday, which is win-win for me. Of course, I amped up the difficulty to it's highest, although I'm debating whether to make it harder by removing the auto-aim system or not. Metroid Prime Trilogy - DarkPwnage - 2010-01-31 The hard mode settings on all 3 of them was awesome. It got just the slightest bit ridiculous in 3 though. Some of the bosses were taking like 15 to kill. I started getting hand cramps from gripping the nunchuck thing so hard. Metroid Prime Trilogy - Kabanaw - 2010-01-31 I bought this the day it came out. I'm a huge fan of the series. The Wii controls made the game a lot more enjoyable. Not to mention the hi-def was pretty awesome too. |
