Going off this thread. There needs to be a more clear collection of data on the current hacking epidemic. If you were a victim of this, I ask to answer the following question to get a more clear idea on what exactly is going on here.
This thread is not for discussion, but to collect data.
Here are the following questions, please use the template.
Note: If more then one was compromised from you, please answer for both.
How many of your accounts were compromised?
What was the main on the account?
Was your account info changed?
Was your email info changed and compromised?
Did you change your password recently?
If you changed your password, when did you?
Was a keylogger found on your computer?
When was your account created?

Where you DC hacked before your account was compromised?
Was your password at the time able to be reversed by hash reverse lookups?
For the last question, it's simple. Your password is encrypted on the database, and is not in English.
For example, if your password is "doodle", then on the database it will be "15142a31bd9a57c53bbb4db464b13607". Can't read it, can you? It's meant to be for security purposes. However, sometimes it can be cracked, and reverse back into English.
What you need to do is this:
Go to http://www.md5.net/ or http://www.joeswebtools.com/security/md5-hash-generator/
Enter your password in English, and generate it into an MD5 Hash.
Take the MD5 Hash password of yours, and see if the following websites can return it into English:
http://md5.rednoize.com/
http://gdataonline.com/seekhash.php
http://hashcrack.com/index.php
Do not enter your English password into the last three websites, only enter the hash password!! Entering your English password WILL add it to their database for reverse lookups, this will screw up the entire process. Use the password of the account which you got hacked on.

Did you share account information? Used to, but nobody else knew the personal info. I then changed the password + PIN, so only the ID remained known.
When were you hacked? I discovered that I was on 1/4/10. I don't really know exactly when.

When was your account created? Can't remember exactly, late .3x or early .4x

When were you hacked? At some point between 5pm 12/31/09 and 8am 1/1/10 (PST)
Where you DC hacked before your account was compromised? I didn't notice if I was.
Was your password at the time able to be reversed by hash reverse lookups? The first two, not the last one.
Additional Information: I was going though the free market (1-8 and Entrance) immediately before logging off the last time before the hacking happened. Upon logging back in was still in FM 8, and more or less stripped.

Hiya, sorry if this is a wierd question, but would you guys feel it's right or awkward to supply more information like this? Feels like it's just more information to be abused. At least somehow make it more private than out of the open? This could just fit some criteria for sending in a ticket to nexon when you get hacked or something... Just a suggestion though...o.o

Why?
They're not providing login IDs, passwords, pins, birthdays, or anything of the like. IGNs can just be looked up on the rankings, so it's not like they're a big secret or anything. These are users who have already been hacked, their login info may or may not already be compromised, so why not try to find a common denominator to prevent it from happening to other players?

Not sure, just a wierd feeling... you're just basically telling the hackers who you are in a sense with that sort info like how many accounts, etc. We all know hackers all have different motives;whether they're just getting your money for meso site sellers, or targetting specific people that they hate or other selfish gains. Some hackers can probably assume that you might start up again when at least they aren't like tossing out your untradeables, or just everything on the account. And then hack you again later.
I do agree this might be a good idea and some methods to crack it down, just maybe not leave this thing out of the open for everyone to view. Hackers could just be lurking around and just try to find ways to go around what they read? Sounds like I'm being paranoid, but better to be cautious I guess...

Telling how many of our accounts were broken into doesn't tell the hackers anything they don't already know. No one has been asked to tell how many accounts they have, to identify those accounts, or to give any information beyond a statement of the circumstances of their attack and the security that was in place at the time. If you don't feel comfortable talking about it, or you've not been a victim, don't post your info. This is not a discussion thread.

what pisses me off is was looking for an equip the other day and logged into this account, didn't find it so i logged into my other account, 2 days later log back in to transfer my 11atk wg over and everything is gone, about half my mesos gone in 2 days... not sure if i should stay logged into my accounts so they can't get the rest of my accounts or not...
