Alas, it does seem this is the last game in the .hack series. But really, are they going to end this great series on a less-then-spectacular system?

Sad to see the day that .hack ends when I am just starting into it. Hopefully a ressurection of //fragment lies in the future.

well better late than never to get into the series, and yes i too am saddened to see this. theres no way this can be the end though, no WAY! i simply cannot believe that to be true, realistically. i mean, if Sonic can go on for as long as he has, even after all the shitty pomegranate thats released with him in it, this is truly impossible.

I'll admit I haven't been following games recently due to budget and a built up stockpile, so I may be making an assumption here when knowledge that states otherwise is present; but to me this reminds me of those tales games that just threw the characters together for the sake of fandom rather than prioritizing on a new story and depth.

I'd rather not see it go either, but it had a good run. If they were ever to revive the series, I'd like the random dungeons to have a bit more twists and turns to them to tone down the repetition. For example, more stages like the spiral tower type in GU.

I've followed //sign, //LotT, //Roots, //Liminality, all 7 games, //GU+, //AI Buster, //Another Birth, //XXXX (Oddest name given what it would normally reference), and //Gift up to this point. I wanted to buy the GU Trilogy DVD to wrap it up personally, but again budget. I have to admit, they did do very well up to this point market wise in dividing the content between mediums.

Going back on my initial comment though, if they've been so successful that they believe a fandom type game would actually sell, why would they make it the last game?

it might just be the timeline that they show with that, and the way he interpreted it. ofc theyre going to one day come out with a better, more global MMO for the series, i have no doubts of this. its got a following here, in japan, and elsewhere, and people have been clammoring for an actual MMO ever since Fragment. buddy i work with jokingly and half seriously said "If Bandai came out with a .hack MMO, half of WoW would be gone." he and i would love to see it come out.
