Is Octo supposed to be braindead when you're not near it? - Spideyjvc - 2009-12-09 I'm not sure if it's a glitch or not, but I noticed that Octo's range is shorter when you're not on top of it. Really, sometimes you can be right next to it and it'll just stand there doing nothing until you actually move just a few pixels over. Is its range supposed to be neutered when its master isn't around or something? Because it's really annoying when sniping. You put out Octo in a place where it should be able to hit the target, but it won't unless you're standing on it's back tentacle or something. Very annoying at Newties when you have to turn around and blank shot to kill the bot timer, only to find your Octo has stopped attacking just because you walked a few pixels away from it. I've seen some maple videos where the attacker leaves it completely and it's still attacking. Yeah, I mean, if you summon the octo right in the monster's face then it will attack regardless of where you are. But it seems that if you summon it right at the border of it's range, it can't reach its maximum range without its master on top of it. fiftyschmooo Wrote:*goes to test this* i havent noticed anything about this.... we shall see tho I'll sign on and go to Newties right now to post screenies of what I mean. I certainly hope I'm not the only one affected by this. Edit: Images

If I had fraps I'd record it so you could see. Octo doesn't attack at all if I stand away from it, but if I walk up closer it starts attacking. It's even more annoying when I walk up to Octo to activate it again, only to find I walked a little too far and entered Newtie's range. Edit: Bit off topic, but I just realized the Mapletip at the bottom of the screen. A few lines up I got the "You have played Maplestory for 34 hour(s)" message. Is Octo supposed to be braindead when you're not near it? - KaidaTan - 2009-12-09 I've found that it varies by situation. That one at newties I'm familiar with, and it's pretty annoying. In particular, Octo won't attack HT's left head at all if you put him on the top left platform. I would test him out in different situations to see where he does and doesn't attack to see how dependable he is. Generally speaking, he shouldn't be braindead when you're not near him so long as he exists to your client (so don't get so far away that he'd disappear from your mini-map if he were another person). Is Octo supposed to be braindead when you're not near it? - Dusk - 2009-12-09 Feels like you can put serious vertical distance between you and Octo before it stops attacking, but get a little too far from the monster horizontally and Octo stops completely. Edit: What bot timer at Newties? The 100 attack limit. Timer was probably not the best word to use. I think it's the Newties map in general. Even at the bottom I can't distance myself too much from my octopi before their range gets cut. Though, I can walk a bit further from them before that happens. Even when I'm the lower middle platform.
