DFO Basics? - butterfλi - 2009-11-23 After reading this thread, I thought about giving DFO a shot. So is anything game related basics I should know about first hand? Like in Maple, don't add stats unless you KNOW what job you're gonna be, max MaxHP increase FIRST as a warrior, etc.? Also, keeping aside it's run by Nexon, how dependent is the game on cash-related things thus far? (I know the game is new so it's not bad now but does it look like it's going in that direction?) DFO Basics? - Chompy - 2009-11-23 I just started playing. Stats are automatic upon level so you can't mess that up. Skill builds are the big thing. I added a little bit into each type of skill. Apparently every sub-class can PvE or PvP depending on your build. And every class is about equal (if you know how to play) And Maspan and Fiel explained that at level 18 you choose your sub-class and get to reset points (they reset automatically for free). Summary: Ever played a beat'em up? Pick the class type you like. Long-range, Support, fast melee, slow melee, tactician, etc. they have pretty much every class. ![]() And you can't really screw up anything til level 18 DFO Basics? - Zephyr - 2009-11-23 You might want to get NX to buy Safe upgrades otherwise you'll have weight problems later with equipments, but besides that, almost every NX related item can be gotten for free or using game money (you can buy avatars, you get revive tokens daily) DFO Basics? - Jormungandr - 2009-11-23 You can upgrade stuff through Kiri. Each reinforcement costs ryan cokes and money, it's just like scrolls. I haven't done it too much so not really sure how it works, but once you get past +10, item can boom. There are also colors for equip names: white is crap npc it. blue is uncommon disassemble it. Purple is rare. Use or sell to people. Pink is really rare. There's also legacy equips, which are worth a lot. DFO Basics? - Dyxanije - 2009-11-23 Jormungandr Wrote:You can upgrade stuff through Kiri. DFO Basics? - Fiel - 2009-11-23 Do all the quests you can. When I say "all the quests", I mean all of them! Quests are beneficial to you and will help you level faster. If at any point you go into a dungeon, have quests available, and aren't doing those quests you're doing it wrong. Only go into dungeons to complete quests. This general rule will save you a lot of time. Up to level 18, it does not matter where you allocate your SP. You get a full SP reset at level 18, so until then just pick which skills look cool. Base your decision on which job to take at level 18 from which skills you liked. You do not get any more SP resets, so after your advancement at level 18 you should consider looking at skill builds. Mages are difficult for the first 18 levels. Then they get easier. If at any point you ask yourself, "How do I get to Mirkwood Frost?" You get the ability to go there from another epic quest. Epic quests advance the storyline of the game and will open up new dungeons and areas for you to fight in. Regular quests do neither of the previous and just exist for giving out exp/gold. Kiri will offer to upgrade your items. Don't bother with upgrading your items until past level 25. Sell white-labeled items to NPCs. Disassemble Purple and Blue equips with Loton. If you get a pink equip or a 30+ green equip, buy a donkey shop (NX Item - like a shop permit) and sell it. You may have to spend money to make money with pots, but you only actually make money with 0.15% of pots. It's not worth your time. The only potions you can buy in this game cost NX or Victory Points (VPs are rewards from doing PvP) to get. All of your other potions you get come from exchange quests or potion drops in dungeons. You can't just go to an NPC and buy pots. DFO Basics? - Holypie - 2009-11-23 Don't disassemble purples under ANY circumstances unless you have proven that it is worthless. Many purples sell for around 100k-200k and some will sell for upwards of a mil. (Items to watch out for, ANYTHING that gives Casting speed, attack speed and MP regeneration.) DFO Basics? - Spaz - 2009-11-23 Fiel Wrote:Base your decision on which job to take at level 18 from which skills you liked.I disagree. The couple skills per subclass you get before 18 aren't really enough to make a decision. Read up on the style of each subclass before making your decision, or just do what I did and pick one randomly. If you don't want to buy NX, you can sell purple, green, and pink items on dfosource.com (and here on SP in the trading thread, if anyone ever reads it...) DFO Basics? - Holypie - 2009-11-23 Admittedly, the nexon forum's marketplace gets A LOT more activity, but people there can be complete retards. But it's still a great place to sell. If you buy avatars, FOCUS ON SHOES HATS AND HAIR! These have a chance to get certain "Jackpot" stats like what I stated above. (Movespeed, attackspeed, castspeed and MP regen) DFO Basics? - Jormungandr - 2009-11-23 Also watch videos of the classes on youtube. This page gives a little insight on all the classes and their awakenings: http://wiki.dfosource.com/index.php?title=Main_Page Just click the class you want to read about. DFO Basics? - Mark - 2009-11-27 Spaz Wrote:I disagree. For instance, if you were to follow this, every Priest would be a Monk since Smasher and Straight Punch are so powerful in lower levels due to the fixed damage. |
