Laptop problems! - SlickChronic - 2009-11-22 My mom gave me my brothers old laptop, it was bought around 2005. I know it's a cheap laptop and all, but it's still usable. I did a factory restore on it and all, and now it's like brand new! Well I have a problem with it. I don't know how to connect it to the internet! On this computer, I have a linksys wireless adapter that connects to my linksys router. On my laptop, when I check my network connections, it shows that I have a "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC" for my Local Area Connection. "Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter" for my Wireless Network Connection, and I have a "1394 Net Adapter" for my 1394 Connection. I have no idea how to set these up to connect to my router, if that's even possible. I tried connecting my laptop to my computer through a cable, hoping that I can somehow get it's internet connection like that. It works for my xbox 360, but when I plugged the cable in the laptop I guess it didn't notice it. Can someone please tell me how to set up my internet connection on my laptop? Thanks! Laptop problems! - BlackSabbath - 2009-11-25 if you connect an ethernet cable and it works for your xbox but it doesn't work for your computer you might have the computer's TCP/IP configured for a static IP, try setting it up as automatic, that might solve it. |
