Ranger Skill Build Question - strobli - 2009-11-22
I recently made Ranger and I was wondering which skills are usually maxed nowadays (besides Strafe, Arrow Rain and Puppet that is). Out of Silver Hawk, Inferno, Mortal Blow and Thrust which skills should be maxed and what levels should the others be left at? I've heard that leaving Inferno at 1 for luring and maxing everything else is the way to go because Arrow Bomb now does more damage than it on every monster except fire weak ones. Is this true? Any help is appreciated.

Pretty much everyone agrees that you should max MB. That leaves 51 points to distribute.
Many people just get 20 Thrust, 30 Hawk, 1 Inferno. Personally I find 20 Thrust excessive since it's easy to hit the speed cap with 5 and extra points beyond that are useless. Inferno gets a range increase at 16, if you care.

Alright thanks. I suppose I'll leave Inferno at 1 unless I find it doesn't work for me. Then I'll bring it to 16. Just one more question though. Which order should I max my skills in? I'm going to be training at Typhons so I need to know which skills come in handy there and when to max them. Which is the most important and which is the least?

Arrow Rain, all the way. It's the only skill you'll be using there, so max it first, and max it fast.

Agreed. Stunning them is useless since they'll just fall down and out of your range. Neither MB nor Thrust will be needed since MB wont kick in with Arrow Rain and you won't really be moving around too much.

Alright so after maxing Arrow Rain would you say the order would be Strafe>Puppet>Silver Hawk>Mortal Blow>Thrust? I was thinking of stopping Arrow Rain at 21, getting 1 Inferno for luring, a bit of Puppet and then maxing Strafe followed by finishing Arrow Rain. I don't know wear the rest of the skills fit in though.

Puppet and Hawk should come after max AR and Strafe, but their order depends on where you plan to train next.
For Newties you're better with Hawk first, while Squids Puppet first.
If you just plan on staying at Typhons, neither will help you much so order doesn't really matter.
