The Manga Thread - Sora - 2009-11-20

So I took a look around and saw that there was no general thread for manga discussion. The fu)ck? Let's change that.

This thread is for anything and everything manga related. General/Latest discussion, recommendations, reviews, etc.

Manga that I'm currently following/reading:

Deadman Wonderland (Chapter 7)
Bakuman (Latest Chapter, this manga is so cash)
Dance of the Vampire Bund (Latest Chapter)
Naruto
Bleach (Takes 30 seconds to read a average chapter, no waste here)
Medaka Box (I'm still reading this because the character designs are good)
Soul Eater
Liar Game (Chapter 7x or some shi)t)
Cross Game (Latest Chapter)
Ane Doki (Just fu)ck already)
Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest (Latest Chapter)
GE - Good Ending (Latest Chapter, ....I dunno lol. It's bad)
Bloody Monday 2 (Good start, too predictable though)
BLOOD ALONE (Still haven't finished reading this sh)it. It's really good though. Forgot what chapter I'm on though)
Kimi no Iru Machi (I should've learned my lesson after Suzuka, BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)
[switch] (Just picked this up)
Are You Alice? (This is some FABULOUS shi)t right here)
Angel Densetsu (I left off somewhere in the 4x)

Manga that I need to read:

Yotsuba&!
Anne Freaks
Eureka Seven (Although I've watched the anime, many times over)
Mx0 (Reading canceled series lol)
Franken Fran
Kamen no Maid Guy (Shi)t looks interesting)
Blue Heaven
Koi Kaze

I know I'm missing a lot of manga both my lists, especially on my need to read list, but whatever.

The Manga Thread - Takebacker - 2009-11-20

Manga i'm following:

Claymore (latest)
One piece (latest)
Mirai nikki (latest)
Pastel (latest)
Bakuman (latest)
Hunter x hunter (latest, dear god can't wait for jan)
Ane doki (latest)
Naruto (latest)

Don't really have a "need to read list". L> Manga to read.

The Manga Thread - Dyxanije - 2009-11-20

I plan to read:
Re-Take (that one Evangelion doujin)
Ai-Ren

Tenshi Ja Nai
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou

Monster

The Manga Thread - Smooth Criminal - 2009-11-20

@OP: Franken Fran is cool. You need to read it ASAP.

In other news, has anybody else read Hotel (one shot)?
My favorite manga, even though it's only fifty pages long.

It's very nice if you're into dark humor.

As for my list, I've too many and don't keep track. I know I should, I've been planning on getting a MAL sometime for keeping track, but I've been too lazy to keep one updated. I guess I can start by listing crap off the top of my head and editing this post when I remember more. This is the stuff I'm currently reading.
  • Mahou Sensei Negima
  • Mirai Nikki
  • Deadman Wonderland
  • Detroit Metal City
  • Pokemon Special (AKA Pokemon Adventures)
  • Kodomo no Jikan
  • Mysterious Girlfriend X
  • Hayate no Gotoku
  • Prunus Girl
  • Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
  • My Balls
  • Franken Fran

I'll probably edit this later.

Bump.

Is anybody else a fan of Inio Asano?
I bought Solanin, loved it, and read more of his works (Nijigahara Holograph, Before the Dawn and The End of the World, Oyasumi Punpun, etc.).

I like the dark tones his manga take on, not to mention his talent at making anything seem realistic.

I can't say much about him, since I've only read Oyasumi Punpun up to chapter 36. I'll agree with you though. I love his light humor and his drawings. Reading Oyasumi Punpun makes me sad though.

I haven't read much manga in the past 10 days, but I've picked up a new one called Katekin. There isn't much of a story until later, so it's really easy to follow. The humor is a bit weird, but I found it hilarious.

Oh, and I did begin to read Fraken Fran, although I didn't get very far, the story is really interesting so far. I love dark stories, so this is right up my alley.

BUT I CAN'T GET ENOUGH. I LOVE KNIFES IN MY HEAD TRAINWRECKS.

I didn't think too much of Nijigahara Holograph but I enjoyed Solanin and Before the Dawn and the End of the World thoroughly. I have yet to read Oyasumi Punpun, it's on my to-do list.

I hate Bakuman. I still read it about weekly but I dislike it almost as much as I dislike Naruto. I do much prefer Kimi no Iru Machi to other random Shounen crap, but all that FORCED DRAMA IT'S LIKE TORADORA ALL OVER AGAIN etc. I raged when he introduced that chef girl because I thought he was making another angle in their love polygon.

My Currently Reading list on BU has 190 series, but I'm probably only following 20 or so that are regularly released.
Ones I can name off the top of my head
Naruto (FML)
Bleach (FML)
Mahou Sensei Negima
Air Gear
Bakuman
Kimi no Iru Machi
Change123
Psyren
Gantz
GE
Ai Kora
Hayate no Gotoku!
Girl Friends
Mirrai Nikki
My Balls
New Prince of Tennis

Sora, is your signature from 5cm/s?

Yeah, I like its dark humor. Can't say I find many other people who enjoy it as much as I did though.

Looks like it to me. I'd be able to tell easier if there were clouds in the image. The clouds from that movie are sexy.

Only 4 mangas I'm paying any attention to:

Fullmetal Alchemist
Naruto
Kiss X Sis
Kanokon

*raises hand*

Finished Battle Royale and Onani Master Kurosawa (as per Joe's suggestion) today. Enjoyed both a great deal. I follow several series, so I'll come back and try listing them when I get a mind to. It's probably not as long of list as I think, though. Just feels like it sometimes. I try to focus on completed ones so I don't get that pile-up and forget about what I'm following.

The two ongoing I currently most await are Mirai Nikki and FMA.

The Manga Thread - Kawasari Mimoto - 2009-12-01

Kanokon is great. It's like To-Love Ru, but it's not focused on BREASTS BREASTS BREASTS and nudity, it's more towards a ...somewhat of a love-triangle. I like the fact that the girls can transform in Kanokon too. I'm probably going to DL the series and burn them to DVD. I did that with Elfen Lied & To-Love Ru :/

Hm. It seems to be. At first I thought it was the DVD cover, but I remembered that Akari (the girl) had walked further ahead leaving Takaki (the boy) a bit behind with her footsteps in the snow, but that's definitely the same backdrop there.

Onani Master Kurosawa is definitely one of the best reads I've ever had.

My favourite Completed reads are probably (in no particular order except the first two)
Re-Take
Fap Master Kurosawa
Hoshi no Koe (Sahara Mizu is wonderful)
Bus Hashiru (^)
Love Hina (Yeah, I have a real big soft spot for it)
Ai-Ren
Bitter Virgin
Half & Half (I'm a bit of a fan of Seo Kouji)

The Manga Thread - Kawasari Mimoto - 2009-12-01

Love Hina is a very decent read. I just think the anime for it is boring. I have the entire thing on DVD, it's really dry and boring...

Oh, rest assured. You're not the only one who was raging at that page.

By the way, I'm re-watching 5CM per second right now because the post earlier got One More time One More Chance stuck in my head, leading me to wanna see 5CM again.

Sora's sig is from 5CM.

I've seen that image so many times and all it's shops, but until I read it and got to that moment, I didn't know the full extent of it's rage.
