Even without being 4th job yet, i can tell you puppet is still a good skill to have. Just he fact it takes the heat off you can be nice, and for pap solos, its a must or else your dead.

I always use it during hunting stuff for fun/drops, Boss battles and most important.. Newtie top. The top looks like this:

Newtie _blank_ xfer newtie_xfernewtie

If you place a puppet behind the first newtie you focus on the others while you're standing in the blank spot. I find this spot the fastest for me although it takes more pots (When puppet dies after ~40 secs because the newtie attacks it constantly, It shoots you one time before you have a chance to puppet again.) This method doesnt work for bowmasters aswell, because the bird hits the newtie from left.

So I can tell you I do not regret maxing puppet, its a unique and helpful skill.

i only use it at bosses really. once in a blue moon if i train at newties so i don't get harassed by a nest golem. that's about it though.

Pap solos and when there are more than six Skeles coming at me.
I could've lived without it maxed, but it's an okay skill.

Hard to tell when they're aimed at the Puppet or you. Only find out when you get blasted.

I use Puppet for my Clock Boss Solos and also for when there's mob of Skelegons trying to blast me >_>. I think more useful for Bowmasters since they don't have a freezing skill.

Yeah, I use it every time I solo Pap to decrease the time and pots used. I still occasionally use it at Skelegons to save a few pots. It's not as useful as it was for me in 3rd job, but I love it all the same in 4th job.

I still use mine constantly, either for a good lure, or to just get the heat off.

Only time I use puppet these days is DB+Puppet combo at sharks/whatever else Im using DB at....Which reminds me, now that I have a new keyboard, I have to reconfigure my key settings to jump shoot x_X

In my opinion, puppet shouldnt be the skill you're taking points out of to max some other skills. Sure, you can probably go with 15 or 18 puppet, but dont go with like 6 puppet. You'll most likely regret it (my other Bow master friend is regretting it, but then again he also only still has 19 mastery xD)

Puppet is great for screwing around FM with your friends. Make the f3 face and place puppet behind your friend. As he moves to hit it, place it 3 inches further. Before long, he'll be f5ing and you'll be f2ing. I'm serious, this is some good pomegranate.

You can still get daily cracks after you complete Pap quest. Quest is called Papulatus Counterattack or something similar.

Still cool I guess. But even so, more then 15/18 needed? If you only need more puppet for pap, that's not enough reasons for me.

Why get over 15 puppet with the exception of pap? Same for 18. For Marksmen that is.

lvl 15 gives you a 50 second timer, & lvl 18 gives you the max at 60 secs...which, really, is all you need. It boils down more to a matter of preference/build.

All I can say is that I have lvl 18 puppet & it has certainly served me well in my transition to vikings-grims-squids-gobies-himes under 3rd to newties & skeles as a bowmaster. The higher the level, the less it'll be used but that's only to be expected. Puppet's still my faithful friend even at 16x <3

I agree when training at skeles i use Puppet to draw the hate away from me all the time so i can shoot from afar/Across plats.

Well now this becomes more of a what skill question. Right now I'm thinking:
21 Eagle
9 Thurst
20 MB
20 Pup

I definitely want maxed MB, and I only get 2 speed from equips + 10 from pill, so the question is:
Do I need 21 eagle? Would 15 be fine?
Is 20 puppet really necessary, could sacrificing 2 points from it be worth 3 speed? 5 points be worth 6 speed?

I'm trying to work towards higher speed because I feel that would be more helpful at maps such as peak and skeles, while puppet doesn't seem to be much use at its higher levels except at pap.

Eagle, I thought 21 was a good amount for mid and bottom newts so I wouldn't even have to stop and bliz, but would the 88% from 15 be enough? 95% sounds fairly nice, even if it becomes useless in 4th.

We really need a what skill should I get next thread.

Besides, skill questions could belong in the generic Ask thread.

And really, though I haven't worked with any level of puppet other than 1 or 3, I'd think once you get beyond 30-40 seconds, there's really no need for a higher timer. The main difference afterward seems to be its tanking ability, which depends on HP, not timer.
