At my school you can be 18 to check yourself out, only if you signed that you could at the beginning of the year.

Unless you're an office assistant, you can't change that information without parent consent.

I have no intention of dropping out, but I am a little curious as to any new rights/powers I get when I turn 17.

I could check myself out on my 18th birthday, so the last few months of senior year. If I ever felt like going home I would just call the school from my cell phone and say I was my father and I had a dentist appointment or something.

See, that's where I'm a total plantain when I'm office aid. If there is someone that calls from a screened cell phone number, and if the person sounds young, then I tell the main lady to call their mother/father (whoever they said it was) to confirm. Student usually is raged.

I dropped out in junior year in order to further support my mom and I, and our home. I'm now a sophomore in college. Statistics are silly.

I loved it when people would try to do that to me, considering my father and I sound almost identical on the phone. They would call him back and he would just go along with whatever they had to say. People like you made my day.

This is besides the fact that many of the "reputable colleges" (depending on your definition of "reputable") are financially strenuous to enter and generally favor higher-middle-to-upper-class standings in prospective students. For many people in today's society, these colleges could be out of the question.

I'm graduating high school but I'm probably dumb as pomegranate so I really doubt it has anything to do with it.
High school is just a formality and a somewhat of a social contest. It's there to provide an unrealistic view on intelligence and society. How good you do on a test doesn't prove anything, it just proves how good you are at memorizing that the answer to question 32 is D.

I dropped out because getting up at 6 am to do easy forms of classwork only to be forced to do the hardest, undiscussed problems at home wasting another 2-3 hours of my life doing meaningless projects. I gave up on the education system, they threaten to send me to a foster home because of my excessive absenses yet the two kids next door to me missed school twice as much as I did and still graduated with half the credits I had. I got sick of the inconsistently and teachers ego's as if their class is what the world wraps around.

I happily got my 2 year degree and am already a year ahead then most of my peers, which I'm taking a vacation on Smile

all those "prestigious" schools have over other colleges is a better name to refer to for a job.

so long as you know who to talk to in the world for whatever you want to do, you dont need to go to the higher named schools, all those do is create a segway into starting that bridge. 'course, going out for a drink has the same effect.
