If there was a 3rd branch for thief, bowman or pirate what would you think it would be? Discuss.

Personally I made a 3rd branch thief not too long ago and gave my ideas to SouthPerry, and also I reckon the 3rd branch for bowman should be Bard or something. (using instrument strings to fire arrows and yes I got that from Ragnarok Online)

They should make a pirate class that uses their own set of 1hand swords. Maybe call them a fencer pirate or something. *Think of pirates of the carribean =D*

I'm not to sure how they could make another bowman class.

There was a thread before that talked about a thief class using Staffs that I thought sounded pretty good.

For archers- I was thinking a class that was heavier and slower than Xbows.
A ballista user.
A mini-ballista - a big semi-disadvantage would be the LACK of soul arrow.
But due to the heavier and reduced fire- it would not be necessary.
For ammunition and simplicity I would have them fire arrows or x-arrows.
4th job they could really have the anti-thesis of Hurricane with a stationary ballista that deals heavy heavy damage.

Don't xbowman kind of have the same thing? Snipe or pierce could fit that O_O.

They could probably have pulled off making one of the pirates a 3rd thief. Pirates are Ninjas are rather similar in most aspects. o_o

Mages go around the three elements.
Warriors have the two basic weapons used, Swords/Spears(Hero, DK), then pull out a random mystical class(WK).

I honestly can see a gunslinger being the third thief. Nothing else makes sense to me. :[
You could argue a spear/dart thrower, but that's too similar to a hermit. :/

Pirates and ninjas are only 'similar' because they're both glorified in anime?

And hermits are about speed. Dart thrower not necessarily.

Pirate =/= Ninja. Tongue

One hides around in the shadows and kills things without being seen. The other pillages villages/ships and kills anything that gets in their way.

Think REALLY REALLY slow.
and Heavy Almost Stationary.
Think Captain's Battle ship- But heavier.
I guess you could try faster for archers- but meh.
Or a Melee/Archer combo- Bayonet?
IDK

Pirates ARE thieves though... You'd have a better time arguing that Ninjas, despite being ROGUES are not THIEVES.

I would say Gunners should have been 3rd class for Archers, and the fisticuffers should have been 3rd class for Thieves. Archers are marksmen, so it would make sense for a person using a pistol to join their ranks, and a thief beating enemies with his "bare hands" wouldn't be outside the realm of logic either.

ps I don't think a ballista user would be any good... do you know how big that pomegranate is? Think of a siege catapult. Think of how big that is. Now imagine A pineappleING CROSSBOW THAT SIZE. That's what a ballista is.

Although Infighters could pass as thieves, how exactly do Gunslingers fall under "Archer"? o_o
Yea, they use Dex, but that's easily changed.
The only similarity is that they're ranged.

I know.
Imagine a Scorpion- for 2nd Job
A more mobile faster Scorpion for 3rd.
And a FULL OUT INSTA-FORT Ballista for 4th- With some crazy stationary DPS
Also Imagine an Awkward arcing super-Arrow Bomb for 2nd job to make sure you didn't just die.
And a Iron Arrow variant.
---
Save booster for 3rd job though(mage style) since they do such heavy SLOW damage.
...
And A setup time for packing and unpacking would make sure that melee range was a total peach.
A very tactical and albeit limited class for training maps.
It would also be pretty good for luring if it had a mass damage/stun move.

Thief = Elemental thief, uses... I don't know.
Bowman = Uses darts (lolcopied) to poison stuff.
Pirate = A helpful pirate, sort of like a cleric, who steers the ship! lolz

Not good with class names, weapons, or like... anything else.

I would like elemental critters that are good for all- all- elements ..
And elemental weapons that added a % bonus for even non-elemental damage.
BUT had like 5-10 less Watt. (Thus limiting them to train on one element).
The multiplier would just multiply more
So a Sin use Elemental L7 for a 1.5 increase.
Well just tack that onto the 1.5 weapon abilitiy X the 1.5(?) regular paladin ability and BAM! 2.25 damage on you!Glitter

element sindit! they throw daggers, but they also cut with them! non-broken damage formulae! and ELEMENTAL

Puppet master for theives (yes i know lolnaruto) but that would help with the darts part

Bowman... Balista sounds great here. But maybe a falconer who uses birds to attack pople (archer=raptor birds for somereason anyway)

Pirates... a bomber? not quite similar to the gunslingers throwing bomb, but an entire class built on bomb type artillery.

Guns are the modern equivalent to archery. In ancient times, arrows would be used in a way akin to the way guns are used now.

They're two sides of the same coin.

That and the gunners use tactics often associated with Rangers in other games. Summons, and the ability to take in monsters to have them help you. The only thing that would make NO sense is the pirate theme to the skills, which could be EASILY changed to be more in line with established Archer skills (i.e. octopus and gull would need to be changed to less aquatic themed animals, and the battleship transformation would also make no sense). The octopuses could be automatic gun turrets and the gulls could simply become another bird of prey like the Archers are known to use thus far. If the gun turret idea seems far fetched, that idea could be scrapped and they could set traps (like pitfalls), and the advanced version they learn later on would be to install mines.

Which reminds me: "raptor bird" is redundant. "Raptor" alone indicates bird. It'd be like saying "ATM machine".
