Just wondering, what's wrong with AVG?

AVG, Avira, Avast are all good free antivirus/spyware programs. Malwarebytes can be a good secondary one. There's also "Microsoft security essentials" but I don't know much about that cause it has only been recently released.

I personally use avira and malwarebytes if you're wondering.

I dislike Avast, and use AVG, never had any problems with that.

Use AVG and common sense. I only use the latter and am doing fine.

AVG is great. Just don't use Norton, Norton sucks balls. I even have a shirt that says "Even Norton can't protect you."

Hello, Southperry. I don't use a virus scanning program.

I'm still here.

Fail troll. I use Avast/AVG and SpyBot/Ad-Aware and Zone Alarm.

Things I recommend:
-NoScript (If you use FireFox, it's an add-on that blocks all Javascripts unless you allow it.)
-Ad-Aware (A free program that scans for keyloggers and some other things, quite usefull.)

Oh and I've been using Norton for the past 7 years or so, never had problems. (In a way of a virus at least.)

I'm serious. A year ago, a good friend told me "As long as you're not a complete retard that doesn't go around clicking on what everybody tells him to click on, you'll be fine". He was right. Now, all I need to ensure my computer's safety is Spybot: S&D along with Malwarebytes AntiMalware, which I only use on a monthly/bimonthly basis. I recommend both of those programs instead of a free virus scanner that isn't even reliable in most serious situations.

All an active virus scanner is good for is eating up RAM.

On my desktop, I use Panda's Global Protection 2010 Beta for Windows 7, and on my laptop I use AVG (though that's going to change when Windows 7 comes out).

AVG randomly deleted files on my old computer and it became so laggy I had to reformat it.

Thanks, guys.

Avira detected "Left4Dead.exe" as a virus... -_-

Any good anti-virus/spyware program to recommend? - GummyBear - 2009-10-11

I use AVG and super-anti-spyware.

Actually, Microsoft Security Essentials has received good criticism overall, so it's definitely not a bad choice, some reviews stretch it even to the best free alternative there is.

I can see why, I mean, it detects viruses in the files you're downloading WHILE you're still downloading them.

How is that NOT epic?

You can also schedule checkups, but I guess that's not THAT uncommon. I forgot all others features.

I think I just talked myself into downloading it, brb.
