... is it so weird? I've used the card for years, it's almost no wonder I've memorized it by now. Yet I'm always a little self-conscious somehow when I sit down at the computer and mechanically type in the card number by heart.
I wonder how prevalent it is.
Do you do this, or something similar?

I memorized several different things, but none as long as that, before; my SSN is only 9 digits long and my high school ID number (no clue why I still remember that...it was 4 years ago) is 8 digits long. I know a handful of people that have memorized their driver's license number and credit card numbers, though.

i memorized my library card # right after the first time using it to sign in to library's computer, and now I use it as the password for some accounts.
I've also memorized many 9-10 digit numbers, there's this chinese software called QQ which is similiar to msn. except the person's accounts are 9-10 digits numbers, so I have to memorize the numbers to add people as friends when I go home.

Although I use a 12 figure string of random text and symbols for passwords. Usually takes me about a week of typing them to remember them, although I can't write or say the password...

I used to have my library card number memorized...
...But I worked at the library and I needed the number to go on the computers every day during my break.
And now I can't remember it at all.
I do know my SSN and my 8-digit college ID and a good 5-10 phone numbers. Back in the day, we didn't have cell phones with contacts lists... So we memorized people's phone numbers so we didn't have to drag out our REAL PAPER contacts list.

Numbers that you use constantly you'll remember.
Ex. University student numbers: I write it down on every damn assignment and test, so it sticks after a while. Yeah, the first few times I had to take out my student card, but after a while, it was just ingrained. Same for my RCM (Piano exam thingy in Canada) and my SIN and other things. My library card I dont quite remember anymore because I havent been to the library in... years (lol) but back in the day when i was a kid and went weekly, it was memorized.
Then again, Im a person who has the first 33 digits of pi memorized and at one point had 100, so I'd definitely say use is relevant to whether you remember something or not.

I know my high school, undergrad, and now my graduate student numbers. I also know my Driver's License number and my SSN, but have yet to memorize my SIN since moving to Canada. I will be scared the day I memorize my Passport number. :f6:

I memorised my library number when I was younger (It was like... 10 or 12 digits) but I have since forgotten it. I have my 8 digit student number memorised.
Memorising numbers shouldn't be that hard though. I mean... everybody knows their home phone number, right? (I don't know my cellphone number though)

^ Actually, I've known some people who don't know their own phone numbers.
It actually makes a little bit of sense. You don't call yourself. And depending, you might not have to call home often.

Anyhow, I have my cc memorized as well. There're a few other numbers, like my student ID etc that I used to remember.
