What do you associate with 9/11? - Cancambo - 2009-09-12 I associate 9/11 with cowardice, overreaction, over exaggeration, and hypocrisy. Why do I have these beliefs? Simple. About 3 thousand people died as a result of the attacks. 3 thousand. 3 thousand. And again, 3 thousand. When is it ok to kill a kill a civilian? Never. How many civilians has the USA killed? Hundreds of thousands (sometimes in a single night), if not millions. Who's the only nation to use an atomic bomb? Who's the only nation to have used it twice? You guessed it, the USA. So why is it that the rules apply to every other country but America? Because we are arrogant pricks trying to spread "democracy" around the world because that is what Western culture does, it spreads its values "in the name of God" usually. When America commits war crimes it is ok, but if another nation does something "evil" we invade them. So how did we react to 9/11? Like punk, cowardly bitches. Seriously, you CAN'T conquer 300 million people. You just can't. We should have stayed strong, but still take threats seriously. But should we suddenly declare a war on two countries if a threat is carried through? No, that is stupid. If you were strong and smart then you'd stand strong. When you act out of emotion, you act stupidly. That is why Americans gave up constitutional rights after 9/11*. They were emotional because 3 thousand people out of 300 MILLION died. Now mind you, that is 3000 deaths still, but put into perspective. You are more likely to die by your neighbor then by a terrorist attack. Your closest enemies are pretty much next door, if not in your house. If you're so scared of death, then you might as well never drive on the highway, or do many other day to day activities. Come on, have some strength and bravery and look at things in perspective. Things people took away from 9/11: We should fight "terror" We should give up our rights My safety is greatly compromised I am going to be ruled by fear And more! Things people SHOULD have taken away from 9/11: Be strong Be rational Don't be controlled by emotion Take threats seriously, but don't overreact to them Don't be mad if you do something and it is done right back to you And more! DISCUSS! *Why the hell do we pledge allegiance TO THE FLAG? We should pledge allegiance to the Constitution. The flag changes. The flag is a piece of cloth made in China. What do you associate with 9/11? - Jedward - 2009-09-12 This year, I associated 9/11 with Thursday. Seriously, I just can't care anymore. Late edit: Yes, Friday. God, I was tired then. What do you associate with 9/11? - SuperNerd - 2009-09-12 I can't agree with your post more, Matt. That's really how I've always viewed it. I also agree with Infection. I'm so fucking tired of people bringing this up. Every year, it's the same thing. It hits 12 AM, technically being 9/11, and newscasts, stories, papers, articles, and endless threads on online forums/blogs begin to appear. And when people try to argue that it's just simply time to move on, those same Americans that are trying to get people to sympathize what happened due to the attack start threatening the people who want to move on with death threats, insults, claiming that we need to have respect--and if we don't? We should be punished, tortured, killed... basically wiped off the face of the earth. I'm tired of the hypocrisy. I do sympathize and I do respect. I'm sorry to all those who lost close and loved ones in the attack, but the same number of people, if not more, are killed every day--even in similar or more devastating attacks. It's ridiculous. Hell, I even remember one specific argument I got pulled into. I basically said the same thing as above and quoted a piece of evidence as proof. It was a huge attack that killed thousands and thousands. More than we lost. What was their counter argument? "Well did those attacks include hijacked planes?! No! So your point is invalid. Our attack was the worst, due to the terrorists that hijacked our planes and crashed them into our important structures!" And I'm not exaggerating. I could really go on about this for hours, but meh, I've already had my fair share of arguing about it today and I'm through. I honestly believe that our government cared about the money lost in the destruction of those buildings rather than the lives >_> We were supposed to have the memorial and the freedom tower (or whatever they've agreed to at this moment) built by now. I walk by there every day for lunch and whatnot. They haven't even finished CLEARING the mess yet. Yeah. This. It's funny how people get all emotional when you bring up the topic. My socail studies teacher got mad at me cause I said the same thing, than he suspened me for 5 days . People die everyday, so why is 9/11 so important? "Because it left a dent in our nations heart." Yeah right... People just don't know how to move on if you ask me. TobiasBlack Wrote:9/11/01, the day that sparked the downfall of true american ideals and a return to barbarism in politics.Generally agree with this. Ain't it funny how people usually associate 9/11 with EXTREME patriotism or call it "the day all Americans united, regardless of race"? Not the Middle-Eastern-Americans.

I've had my mind wrapped around this comment (and correct me if I am wrong but) wasn't 9/11 on a Friday this year? In anycase, I agree, I don't care about it anymore, I'll care in 2 years when the day has reached it's tenth anniversary and it is shoved down everyone's throats by the media but I'll stop caring again after that. What do you associate with 9/11? - Derimed - 2009-09-12 I associate 9/11 with America-hating guttertrash, who say America deserved 9/11 for all the "bad things it has done," without even understanding any of the things in question. (for example, nobody who has an actual understanding of the Pacific theater in WWII would compare the nuclear bombings with 9/11, but it's ok, ignorance is always an excuse when ripping on America.) Several of them are in this thread. Some of those live in America. All should go live in North Korea or Zimbabwe for a few months, at which point they'll come home and shut the fuuck up. |
