Since then, investigators have conducted an "extensive" search of the area, but no other human remains have been found, said Steve Whitmore of the sheriff's department.
"The hand may have been carried there as a result of animal activity, possibly from miles and miles away," Whitmore said.
The hand was discovered south of Challenger Middle School, but detectives do not believe there is a connection with the campus, Whitmore said.
"The middle school community should not be alarmed," he said.
Sheriff's detectives assigned to a "special recovery team" were working with coroner's investigators to identify the source of the hand, and were reviewing missing-persons cases, Whitmore said. The hand is mummified with a dry, leathery appearance, said Capt. John Kades, of the L.A. County Coroner's Office. "It's been there a while," Kades said. Investigators plan to rehydrate the finger and then identify it through fingerprints, Kades said. Anyone with information about the hand is asked to call the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.

My ex-brother-in-law Todd was driving me home from his apartment in New York one day. We were on the highway; I was nodding off. We passed by a couple of cop cars toward the side of our lane, thinking some dickhead got pulled over for drunk driving.
In an instance, Todd both recoiled in shock and screamed at me to look the other way. Being myself, I glanced in the direction to which his vision was transfixed.
A fucking human head lay towards the center of the highway, its eyes pointing to the wheels of the car.
That's not really Funhouse material, though it is completely relevant.

That or it was another one, I dunno. Though multiple human hands popping up all over the place would be freaky.

Interestingly enough, this also happened to my aunt in a way. We were going from Ohio down to Florida, and in the middle of the trip somewhere, we passed a car accident with cop cars around. As we were passing, my aunt looked out the window and screamed, saying she saw a head laying on the ground a-@
