I found that really stupid. I think it's a great idea Obama wants to speak to the students of American schools about education, and it's been blown FAR over proportion. The Cato Institute's quote makes me think they're Republican, out to get Obama. The White House sent suggestions for a classroom discussion, not instructions on what to do. Heck, it's not even being enforced. It's like with the presidential election (the actual day Obama was given the full title on January 20th). Some schools aired it live, some showed a clip of the speech (which amazed me further the second listen). I know that many schools across the nation did not show off the event (can't even think of the name of it ), but what effect was there? None. But it was a learning opportunity to know what our government is up to, and that shouldn't be a priviledge, but more of a right to me. Why be secretive when the people should know what's going on? This speech sounds like a fine idea by me and the Republicans are being plantain Cheney (spelt wrong I believe) and Rush Limbaugh about it. I HAAAAAAAAAATE republicans. If any of you are, I don't mean I hate you, but I hate the republicans in the government and political party. They NEVER try to help with realistic stuff and they love to complain. Maybe we'd get crap done if we had more democrats. And it's obvious how fail-hard the republican party is if you have plantain Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, and Sarah Palin as the figure heads. They targeted a girl who asked a question at a school auditorium to Obama (or his staff, don't remember). wtp? Really? She lost her rights to ask a question and be answered? I don't even remember what was asked, but if it was THAAAT "on-the-edge", why didn't it make TV headlines for the RIGHT reasons?

Kids aren't going to stay in school/drop out of school based on what they heard in that speech. Their teachers and parents and values have a much bigger impact in that area.

Honestly, a politician going to a school and telling the kids to "stay in school" is about as cliche and ret@rded as telling the public that he's "pro-environment" and "tough on crime." It's one of those things EVERY LAST ONE of them will do, even if he's David Duke from the KKK party.

I am all for "education," but this country does not have "billions and billions" to spend at the moment. Obama will get the credit for his "hope and change" bull$hit, while the working taxpayers will be paying for it for the next 40 years, whether they like it or not. Bill Clinton may have gotten a blowjob in the Oval Office, but he balanced the budget, rather than greasing useless vague confidence schemes through charisma. To be honest, I on't like Hillary Clinton, but I would have preferred her to Obama, becuase one way or the other she would have ended up consulting Bill, who has a proven track record. Obama is worthless, and I hope to God he gets thrown out in 2012, or he'll have the same situation as Bush had in 2004 (almost nothing could stop him after re-election and with a cooperative Congress,) and if Obama is doing THIS now, I don't want to know what he'll do if he's given the same chances as Bush. Not only will he hopelessly fuuck up this country, he'll take the rest of the world down with it, through its ties in globalization.
