Exactly how do you make them? i have maker level 2 but i don' have the option, did i miss some relevant maker quest or something? ._.

You can't appraise black crystals until level 3.

Making them from ore or appraising them?
NPCs still need to make it into the crystal from 10 ores, but to appraise them you go down to the option that says something along the lines of "Strengthe..." and select basic.
