Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Lozmaster - 2014-08-11 Christ, metaknight isn't getting cut people. They have that hat because its one of the streetpass quest ones that you can get, nothing more, nothing less. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Zerard - 2014-08-11 Lozmaster Wrote:Christ, metaknight isn't getting cut people. I actually really appreciate that insight. The more you know Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Takebacker - 2014-08-11 Zerard Wrote:Before this goes any further, I want to say that the screenshot alone confirms nothing. I would like to believe that it is a hint, but not outright 'look at this, it tells the future'. In the arms of trollahiro sikeurai, probably not. Although you have been severely understating the amount of information that can be gained from them. Not this one specifically, just in general. You can't dress up as your favorite people or characters as miis if the clothes aren't there. The mii concept fails otherwise (not the fighter in terms of competitive-ness, the concept of "be whoever you want to be"). Thus, the more clothes the better. It has nothing to do with whether the clothes exist in game already. Clothes as we know them are super easy. Most of it is just color swaps and model addition. Actual character specific stuff would probably have to be done from scratch regardless (the smash symbol on samus' costume is obviously not there on her actual suit, as well as the feet and other details). How many character specific costumes are there that they could add that would satisfy everyone? Honestly not many, and yet tons at the same time. You also have to consider that they probably have to get the rights for each costume that isn't related to nintendo's IP which may limit their options. In the end miis are not samus or meta knight. There is value in adding their costumes for miis even if those costumes can be seen for real in the game itself. Lozmaster Wrote:Christ, metaknight isn't getting cut. Is there anything besides "he was in brawl" or "i like metaknight" that makes you say this? I don't really care if he isn't cut, but i'm seriously doubting him making it for reasons above. He just isn't unique enough of a swordsman. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Thugnificent - 2014-08-11 Yeah, like lozmaster said, those hats/masks are like the ones you get from Save Mii. I have all kinds of memorable nintendo characters masks for my mii on 3ds and maybe they will carry over to the game. Honestly though, for me, I would be happy with the roster as it sits. I mean aside from returning characters and the incredibly random additions (pacman) , who else could be joining the fray? It would seem like Sakurai could literally put any character that has any ties to Nintendo, like Rayman. Heck, I was playing Windwaker the other day and realized Tetra could be a nice addition, to commemorate the HD re-release. Anyways, for me any new additions would just be the fruit topping to an already iced cake. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Lozmaster - 2014-08-11 Thugnificent Wrote:who else could be joining the fray? There are plenty of people who could still join. I presume we don't know the entire roster just yet. Any of the assist trophies from brawl that haven't been announced yet as returning would be the most obvious ones, though the only one I can remember off the top of my head is Isaac (Golden sun), though I'm not sure where he would stand since we now already have one mage/knight with Robin, which would have been how I expected a Golden sun character to play (Though psyenergy are all quite distinct from Fire emblem magic) I also still expect Xenoblade to get a character, which would almost certainly be Shulk. Zelda still doesn't have a newcomer (which depending on your stance on whether toon link really counted as a newcomer probably matters whether that surprises you or not). Maybe Girahim or Tetra as you said. DEmise could maybe replace Ganondorf? I'm still not convinced that Ridley isn't playable, given the amount of cockteasin' Sakurai is doing with so many characters (Game & Watch, Zero Suit samus, Metaknight, and Ridley). Two of the surprise trophies from the smash direct have been series that ended up getting newcomers (Fake Palutena -> Palutena and Tiki -> Lucina/Robin), so that maybe suggests the other two are getting newcomers too. For those who can't remember, they were Zelda: Skyward sword and Metroid "Series", rather than other M, despite the trophy showed being from Other M, which is interesting if you consider the other 3 were all specific about one game in a series, and there are very few returning characters throughout the metroid series. It's basically Samus, Ridley and Mother Brain, and perhaps a few other misc bosses. I also kinda want to see what a Rhythm Heaven character would be like since it got mentioned in the second gematsu leak (which is likely not worth trusting at this point what with chrom deconfirmed) Takebacker Wrote:Is there anything besides "he was in brawl" or "i like metaknight" that makes you say this? I don't think anyone with a unique playstyle is getting cut beyond outside reasons (Snake because konami don't release games on nintendo platforms, lol. Ivysaur/squirtle because giving pokemon them+ Jigglypuff and maybe mewtwo would put it at 8 reps, and it's not getting more than Mario). ICe climbers might not because they said they were having issues with the 3ds trying to follow 8 characters, or something on those lines. I have little doubt that Metaknight/Wario/ At least one of Ness or Lucas/Jigglypuff are returning, because there's no-one they could just give the movesets too. ROB is probably fine as well. I'd like Ganondorf to, but with a revamped moveset to one that he deserves. At least one more starfox character is basically guaranteed too. edit: Then again, Lucas might be fine too given we already have two cloney types (Lucina/Toon Link) Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Evolite - 2014-08-11 I want this on my mii fighters.
Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Razmos - 2014-08-11 I can't wait to play as Petch, Lonk and Zulda.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Thugnificent - 2014-08-12 So it turns out that Sakurai did have a plan for a toon zelda and tetra, but ended up scrapping it. There's 3 more videos on the same topic of random Super Smash Bros. knowledge, like how Lucas was supposed to be in melee instead of Ness, or that Sakurai had the idea for the Smash Ball since the N64 release. I thought these videos were interesting considering that I had no prior knowledge of the content shown. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Dark Link - 2014-08-12 ^I love DYKG ![]() Sakurai Wrote:Pic of the day. If you manage to raise this Special Flag for long enough, an additional KO count will be added to your score in a time match, or you'll get an extra stock for a stock match. When this appears on the stage, the fight for the flag becomes a fierce battle of tactics, which makes things pretty interesting. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - JoeTang - 2014-08-12 Confirmed, Coin Battles removed. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Lozmaster - 2014-08-12 JoeTang Wrote:Confirmed, Coin Battles removed. Was that confirmed somewhere else? Because I'm not sure how you're getting that from the PotD. Not that I really used coin battle much, but removing modes always sucks. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Razmos - 2014-08-12 Urm, accidental Waluigi reveal? Quote:Waluigi made his debut in 2000’s Mario Tennis for the Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64 as doubles partner for his fellow evil-doing pal, Wario. The lanky, purple skivvy-wearing villain has appeared in a variety of titles from various Mario sports games to the Mario Kart series, as well as Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii ULink Probably just stupid article writer being stupid though. Wait, was Waluigi even in Brawl? Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - MariettaRC - 2014-08-12 Razmos Wrote:Urm, accidental Waluigi reveal? He was an assist trophy in Brawl and I believe he still is one in this. They might be confusing it with that. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Thugnificent - 2014-08-12 Razmos Wrote:Wait, was Waluigi even in Brawl? Indeed Waluigi was present in Brawl as an assist trophy. He would come out and stomp people into the ground then finish them with a golf club or tennis racket. Im hoping there really is a playable Waluigi this time around, he seriously needs more recognition. Everyone thinks Luigi was the forgotten brother, but take a look at Waluigi.... Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Lozmaster - 2014-08-12 Uh, Waluigi was confirmed as an assist trophy again in smash 4 ages ago. edit: yeah, he was announced as an assist in the last week of feburary Super Smash Bros. I think he's just coming to that conclusion because the PotD doesn't mention what the flag item does in coin matches at all, since in that mode you don't win by KO count total, nor is there stocks. I was thinking the same thing potentially myself. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Thugnificent - 2014-08-12 MariettaRC Wrote:I'm pretty sure Wario and Waluigi aren't even related. I never really thought about that, just assumed they must be brothers just because they happened to be the doppelganger of the actual Bros. And for some reason I'm picturing a Wario & Waluigi RPG that NEEDS to be in production right now, just so that when you think of waluigi, you dont think Tennis or Mario Party..... Super Smash Bros. "Stupid spinoff character should get a rpg because he's a stupid spin off character and I don't want to think of him as such". Uh, yeah. While I'm sure Alphadream have started the next M&L game (since it's basically all they make), just can't imagine them wasting it on Waluigi. Ever. Super Smash Bros. I just think that if Captain Toad gets his own adventure, why not Waluigi? I prefer pretty much everyone else over Mario in his own series, because they usually have extra traits like how Luigi jumps higher or toad runs faster like in the Super Mario Bros games. |
