octopusprime Wrote:That's cool lets just say i was -

What does that have to do with accusing me of "calling the OP out" and being dead wrong at that?

octopusprime Wrote:But you did call him out.

Right. Nothing.

First, starting off defending Lyrics was entirely unwarranted, as he never was attacked. If it is his insecurity that made him feel like he was, it's his goddamned problem, not mine. I refuse to be held accountable if you pee your pants when I conduct a body search for bombs when you'd priorly shoplifted a snack bar.
See? I never addressed the OP, and that was painfully clear since the OP NEVER ONCE promoted Southperrian VPQ roll-calling. I'm searching for bombs, not a missing Kit-kat.

Second, I have no need for you to tell me what I needed to do. I addressed two people AND those who shared those two people's mindset. Two things happen here:
1/ If you're thinking of recruiting Southperrians for VPQ, this reminder/warning is for you
2/ If you're not, move on
I don't give a f'uck about people, like the OP, who get super sensitive because of, presumably, their subconscious feeling of guilt. This is why I never addressed Shinku either. They both did the same damned thing, which I entirely ignored out of disinterest.
I wanted to keep Southperry clean of this filth. Discussing the exploit is one thing, promoting it is another.

Third, my accusation of your poor comprehension was due to you completely missing the first part of this post. The accusation was totally off-based and was nothing more than spam, regardless of what you wanted to do with it, "clearing up confusion", perhaps.

Fourth, I'm bitter because I keep having to point out the painfully obvious fact that you, thankfully, have now grasped: I never once addressed the OP after the first post in this entire thread where I replied to his "Discuss" plea. If you are too dumb to realize you were not being talked to, I apologize, my hands were tied thanks to the intended requirement of subtleness (thus, vagueness) in the warning. But hey, you tend to realize that after exchanging like 5 sentences with the dude in the neighboring toilet booth who turned out to be on the phone.

I went to VPQ once on two of my characters and never went in again. Not that big of a deal considering not everyone can even go in.

Sarah Wrote:You're right there. Nexon needs to make this issue black and white. They need to stop standing around picking their noses when people do pomegranate like this. They need to outright ban them permanently. These people don't care about the game. You've all said so yourselves -- all that matters is what's best for you. There shouldn't be any risk assessment involved. They need to put the fear of god into you and make you know that if you do wrong YOU WILL BE PUNISHED SEVERELY.

It's ironic that a company that cares so little about customer retention is so afraid of removing people from the game, really.

Also I hate that you people are making me side with Nexon. This company is the devil and yet you are all being SOMEHOW WORSE.

maybe it's because the company is the devil that people don't side with it on the first place? just saying.

Corn Wrote:>>>People say it's a glitch (most notably, Sarah, and Eos, but I didn't see Eos in this thread yet)

No point in arguing with people who won't learn, especially when Nexon undermines it 50% of the time by not doing anything then overkills it on the stuff that didn't deserve it. I think they spin a wheel 'do nothing', 'ban everyone', 'delete everything', 'ROLL BACK', 'wait three days, spin again' and do whatever it says.

street Wrote:No one will be banned. When people were abusing happyvile for making 8 star items. Nexon had to go to those maps manually and try to ban people. Nexon cant record what everyone is doing. Also the people that choose to do this are not even close in the wrong to damaging the economy or game compared to dupers and hackers that hack bosses. So what if they can pq it will not be hurting you one bit.

They can however delete every item in the VNUM range of the VPQ that has a GUID higher than the point where they stopped off when the VPQ officially closed.
Whether they're competent enough... well, we can guess that answer. But they can definitely do it that way if they wanted to remove the items again. And the people associated with those items are a step away.

But that choice is not on Nexon's problem solution wheel. Besides, that would require them actually knowing about the game.

You're just being redundant. I specifically followed that observation with "Whether they're competent enough... well, we can guess that answer."

Yeup Tongue Though I would not be pissed if they released a fixed up version with the other parts along with other content they're planning to release.

Rick Wrote:There comes a point where acting like this just becomes irrational and annoying. You drive, Sarah. Do you enjoy the member of Greenpeace standing on the street corner telling you your car is destroying the Earth? You eat meat. Do you enjoy PETA telling you you're a murderer? Or do you wish they would just let you carry on with your day?

Let's use a more accurate and realistic analogy.
You just got out of college, got your first real job and moved into a new house and the Jones' next door to you, who've both been working 20 years longer than you and have a two income household to begin with, have all sorts of shiny new things they can afford that you can't, so you decide to embezzle the money from your brand new job so you can afford those shiny things too and be just like the cool Jones' next door without having put in the time and money and effort to actually earn those status symbols or come by them legitimately.

It's a big company so what you're doing clearly isn't hurting anybody. The Jones' still have all their stuff so clearly you haven't wronged your neighbors somehow. You just saw what they had, wanted it for yourself and found a convenient and clever way to get it. No harm, no foul, riiiiiiiiight? Rolleyes

How dare that police department, judge and panel of your peers accuse you of doing something wrong and want you held accountable, all you were doing was trying to be cool like the Jones' because society said you had to? Hurt

Wrong. The difference here is money is limited and exclusive. These visitor items are limited only to the amount of PQs completed. Everyone is just as capable of having one whether 1 other person does or 1 million other people do. People need to start looking at the scope of things before they get all up in arms. At the moment Sarah wants the real world equivalent of handing someone a life sentence for littering and it's ridiculous and irrational.

And Sarah, you remember how you hated Satellite for coming in to every thread remotely to do with religion and plugging his Atheism because he believes so strongly against it? You are becoming that which you hate.

I think she just wants Nexon to enforce their own rules and people to stop breaking the clear-cut rules (and others to stop defending it on here), which really isn't either of those things.

You're wrong on this one - Most monetary transactions are digital/credit which means they're subject to manipulation. Someone in the right job could manipulate any amount of money they wanted right out of the system. You're just rationalizing.

By your own logic Sarah asking for life sentences isn't harsh because accounts are infinite, unlike human lives of which you only get one.

Hypothetically speaking.

Signs of Alien PQ coming back? - Vek - 2011-07-04

Let's just say hypothetically that no one will get banned over this. Is it still okay to do this? What will you gain from it? Most VIP items that are as important anymore because of the removal of 4th tier. Sure they are statless, but it will not be that hard to gain secondary stats with all the accessories and stat potions coming out. Conversely, what will you lose if you don't VPQ? You will be at a disadvantage, economy-wise, to those who do. However, that disadvantage will become phased out as more equips drop and the supply vs demand plummets or if VPQ gets officially re-released. There are also moral and personal consequences too but it's difficult to argue those and they vary from person to person.

So what it all comes down to is how seriously you take the competitive aspects of Maple. If you are happy being a nooby noob with noob damage, the choice is simple: wait for the official release or for prices to deflate. If you want to improve your equips or make mesos in a questionably legitimate way and don't mind it, you will VPQ.

I wouldn't say I'm rationalizing. I know full well that abusing glitches is against the ToS and I'm not disputing that it is bad, or that it probably shouldn't be done. I'm just saying the scope of THIS is so small that getting on your high horse is completely not worth the effort and is irrational, so just leave people to it. Or next time I see someone jaywalking should I call the cops.

No, not on the back of an IP ban they're not. Also people who are region locked and lose their account created before the lock will not be able to make another.

IP bans are virtually meaningless and non-existent, and even region locking can be bypassed, although those with that much more to lose should think that much harder about violating the ToS, yes?

Rick is right on this one Eos, accounts may be infinite but the specific character is not. Once it's permed you cannot have the same sentimental value with another acc. The ign is gone, the time the effort and the bond with your pixelated character is broken as well. Now it may sound corny and nerdy but look around you people obviously care very much for there maplestory characters and take pride in them so the comparison of a life sentence and a ban are level in this matter, you get one.

Same applies to real life settings, a bum on the street doesn't have to think twice like a multi millionaire does.

I still don't quite think you're grasping the concept of victimless crime. In your example, you take from someone. In this situation, who is having something stolen from them? No one. Who is having their gameplay restricted? No one.

You may share his perspective but I still disagree.

You're still just emphasizing the point that if you care about your character as much as you say, you shouldn't be doing things that you know have the potential to cost you your life.

Your second statement however counters your own first, because what sentimental attachment do you have to a bum? You're willing to risk your bum to make it to being a millionaire you shouldn't be too attached to it, and since you're taking short cuts to power you can't really claim to have spent much time on it either.

It's not a victimless crime, the victim is everyone who's unwilling to cheat to try to stay ahead. Everyone who's having their legitimate value devalued by the illegitimate inflation. Everyone who gets wrongly banned because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time and went down with you, or innocently bought your illegal crap and got punished for it. There is no such thing as a victimless crime, just criminals who refuse to acknowledge their collateral damage. Of course who would expect a criminal to have any concept of self responsibility, that's rather the whole point isn't it?
