Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Kirov - 2014-07-12 Yuichiro Takeda retweeted the reveal announcement. So the internet collective is now convinced Shulk will be revealed on Monday. https://twitter.com/yuichiro_takeda Let's see if they are right. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Remoir - 2014-07-13 ~maybe its gonna be Bayonetta~ Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Razmos - 2014-07-13 Remoir Wrote:~maybe its gonna be Bayonetta~Eugh. I want this to happen so bad. I think it's a very good idea since Bayonetta 2 is Wii U exclusive and is quite a draw for the system. If they can have Solid Snake, they can have Bayonetta. Her new costume isn't even all that fanservicey, especially compared to the gratuitousness that is Zero Suit Samus. She would be so fun to play as, god. And all her alternate costumes can be the costumes from Bayonetta like the tutu and the cat ears and tail... oh god. and of course the nun outfit... Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Lozmaster - 2014-07-13 I'm glad there's virtually 0 chance of it being Bayonetta. The entire character is built around being a sex symbol and that has no place in smash. pineapple other M's zero suit samus design too for that matter. If a third party character gets in, they really either need to be ridiculously iconic, or bring something no-one else really could to smash. Bayonetta really doesn't do either, at least a W101 character would have brought something relatively new to the table with some sort of system for building up your members within a stock, and improving the power of unite morphs. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Remoir - 2014-07-13 I don't see how Bayonetta has any less of a chance than whoever the hell this shulk guy is. Her being in smash would add to the 'looky shes on nintendo' factor, as well as a unique new character for the roster. If Snake made the last one she can too. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Razmos - 2014-07-13 Also Shulk is "generic male with a sword #4" and I'd like to see a character a bit more unique than him. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Flonne - 2014-07-13 Razmos Wrote:Also Shulk is "generic male with a sword #4" and I'd like to see a character a bit more unique than him. His motives and attitude are not that generic; he actually admits he has no real noble causes for going after Mechonis, rather, he's doing it purely for revenge for a large portion of the game. Personally, I would like Shulk if only because if he becomes popular enough the chance of Xenoblade HD releasing with XenobladeX will go up ;_; Unfortunately, Xenoblade's creator has retweeted EVERY SSB event, so this doesn't mean that much. From a gameplay perspective he's going to just be another guy with a sword, like Link, Ike and Marth. I don't want Bayonetta in smash bros because of her game, or for her character or personality. I just think she'd be a good fit and would be really fun to play. An acrobatic ranged character focusing on combos is far more unique than a.. guy with a sword. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - ShinkuDragon - 2014-07-13 i want felix or another MC from golden sun. sure it's swordsman#999 but they have enough psynergies to move the sword to a secondary plane... plus it may help hasten the development of GS4 if people show interest in the series Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - CarrionCrow - 2014-07-13 If they bring any character over from Xenoblade, watch it be Riki. He will fit right in with all them PokeTrols.
Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Kirov - 2014-07-13 I'm fine with Shulk if it turns out to be him. Xenoblade is obviously an important franchise to Nintendo now since they have kept the name for the second game even though it has no connection to the first. The Monado isn't that generic a sword either. I like Bayonetta but I personally don't think she would fit in so well with Smash Bros. I wasn't a fan of Snake really and I think I would feel the same about her. But i guess it's something you would have to see first to make a proper decision. I certainly wouldn't be dissapointed if she was added. ShinkuDragon Wrote:i want felix or another MC from golden sun. This x1000 i still don't know why there are no GS characters in the game. Assist trophies don't count. Though i might have to go for Isaac because of that beard. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - CarrionCrow - 2014-07-13 Flonne Wrote:If it could be ANYONE, I would have to pick Reyn. I prefer Dunban, but Fiora's second form would be nice in this game, it would not be a generic swordman but could have some Samusesque flavour. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Dudewitbow - 2014-07-13 am i the only one who would want Melia for her summon based magic attacks? Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Lozmaster - 2014-07-13 Niernen Wrote:Motives and attitude don't really affect the character's gameplay or movesets though. Have the attacks be based on all the different transformations of the monado. There you go. One way he could not just a generic sword guy. Better yet, implement a system similar to xenoblades battle system. Have each attack shulk lands in between specials power up his next use of a special, or have them all build in power the longer between uses. And besides that, the same rules don't apply to Nintendo franchises that do to third parties. Xenoblade is arguably Nintendo's biggest new i.p. outside of miis that carried over between to this generation, and like any games repped in smash, the main character is the first one to be added, which is why if Xenoblade does get one, it'll be shulk. Oh, and for that matter, since we can describe characters completely by the weapon that use, why weren't you complaining when generic fist guy #4 (though this is really a lowball number, since I'm only counting people who exclusively don't use anything as a weapon) was announced. The first 3, of course being Captain Falcon, Donkey Kong and Ganondorf. The 4th being little mac.Gosh, they're all so generic, stupid fist fighters, who could ever have thought we needed another one who plays exactly the same. And my sarcasm meter exploded. Because it's a stupid thing to say, and it's the same about sword users. Hell, if we're complaining about "generic" sword users, fire emblem likely getting another blue haired lord rep (even using the same sword as marth, lol) should be the one on the chopping block. Flonne Wrote:If it could be ANYONE, I would have to pick Reyn. Seeing a "Reyn joins the battle" card with IT'S REYN TIME on would be brilliant. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - MariettaRC - 2014-07-13 Normally, I would say "I don't care about this Shulk guy because I never played the games nor know much about it" but to be fair, having characters on the roster from franchises that people haven't played makes room for curiosity about said franchise. So I'm not so much unwelcoming to the idea as I am just "meh" about it until I see how he plays. This is assuming it turns out to be one of these characters as predicted. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Zerard - 2014-07-13 If Shulk is indeed confirmed tomorrow, I think it's safe to say that the Gemetsu leak is legit. It would make sense, since Sakurai told us that we're reaching the last of the newcomers, and after tomorrow, we'd have two left. Super Smash Bros. It's not anything new perse that they added characters to slightly more obscure games to the smash roster. Fire Emblem was pretty much non-existant in western territories before Melee. The reason Roy was in Melee was due to his game being recently released and they used Melee as sort of an advertisement. It was because of Melee that got people at least looking into Fire Emblem, and now look at what it is today. Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Phoenix Wright - 2014-07-13 The inclusion of Marth and Roy in Melee is what got me playing Fire Emblem. I was curious after having played Melee for a while and picked up FE7 on a trip to EB Games where I had some extra cash. I regret nothing. |
