I'm falling back in love with Gragas. In mildly related news:
[imgspoiler]http://i.imgur.com/Qr1N5.png[/imgspoiler]
This game had some of the worst teamwork I've ever seen from both sides. I started laning with Nunu and he was useless. Olaf went mid (and raped). Seriously, zero teamwork. There were no proper team fights. No back and forth poking and teasing. Just unabashed killing. Cait got a double kill before minions even spawned. Our Tristana was reasonably terrible as well. This game is the closest I've come to insanity in LoL.

But yeah, I feel good not going tanky-AP on Gragas now (like Will seems to want to do?). RoA+Sheen+Drunk Rage is all I need.

Edit: Nunu was level 4. That would explain why he walked back to base.

I usually go AP tanky DPS with Amumu. Not Gragas. Rolleyes But either way, going part-AP on tanky Amumu is a nice thing; I told you in-game once I have Rabadon and Abyssal Scepter, my Bandage Toss is extremely deadly on squishies. It becomes a mini-nuke, per say.

But of course, before I build those 2 AP items, my first priority is to counter opponents by stacking armor/MR

I mean general build. Old way I did Gragas was Spirit Visage>Mercs>Sheen>Chain Mail>Negatron>Abyssal, Hourglass>Games never went this long.

Have you considered upgrading the Sheen to a Trinity Force, mad?

On Corki or Gragas? On Corki I'd rather get a phantom dancer and red buff. On Gragas I get Lich Bane crazy late game.

Original League of Legends (LoL) Thread - WillDaSnail - 2011-02-19

Just played another game with MR + AP items (Rabadon and Abyssal) on Amumu

Now I can say for sure that I can really mini-nuke carries after getting 300+ AP. Took the Teemo down to 20% before I died, lol.

Guys how do you go about building tanks?

I bought maokai and was following a guide in a custom and my friend said as a tank you are not ment to follow guides you are ment to build against the enemy team..but i dont know any 'tank' items and i dont really know how to analzye an enemy team..

Original League of Legends (LoL) Thread - shouri - 2011-02-19

enemies have a lot of typical AP type characters: build magic resist
enemies have a lot of typical AD type characters: build physical resist
enemies are mixed: you build a mix weighing a bit more heavily towards whichever type you think you'll be dealing with most often.

I also had the same problem about 3-4 weeks back, but this is the steps I follow whenever I tank.

- First, know that there are two types of champs: Physical and Casters.

- If you know the enemy champs you're dealing with are physical-based champs (Ashe and Tristana are the best examples), build armor.

- If they're stacking AP, in almost all cases, they are likely casters or stacking magic damage. Build MR.

- If you know you're dealing with enemies that are known casters (Annie, Nunu, Fiddlesticks, etc), build MR.

- Of course, once you get these down, there are at times where you cannot tell if a champ is going AD or AP (Tyramediere is a fine example in this scenario; he can either go AP or AD). Wait and look at what that player building before you make a decision on what to get.

- Know your enemy team composition. If the team is mostly AD-based (example: 3 AD and 2 Casters), at least 3 of your items should be Armor, and get at least a FoN (getting Mercury Treads is by default). If the team is heavily AD-based (4 AD and 1 Caster), then stack as much armor as you can, and get one piece of MR. Vice versa, if you are dealing with a caster-oriented team (3-4 casters on the enemy team), just start stacking MR and maybe get one Armor item if its needed.

- For countering physical (AD)-based champions: Randuoins Omen, Thornmail (best against physical DPS), Sunfire Cape, Frozen Heart, Atma's Impaler (if you're going tanky DPS), Glacial Shroud

- For countering caster champs: FoN, Banshee Veil, Abyssal Scepter (gives good amount of MR, though IMO its best used on mage tanks like Amumu), Negatron Cape (if you cannot build anything else), Mercury Treads (very important; you will be focused on a lot, and reducing CC effects will definitely help you stay alive a bit longer)

- For best of both worlds: Guardian Angel (though I rarely use this item when I'm tanking nowadays; most people get this as a late-game), Aegis of the Legion

- And of course, if you're in doubt about what the champ's type is, don't hesitate to ask. You don't want to build the wrong items and royally screw yourself and your team over.

- Also...DO NOT GET WARMOG ARMOR AS A WAY TO ROID YOUR HP UP. Rolleyes

So, I'm going out for a week tomorrow and decided that I wanted a last victory, well, I did get a victory but it didn't feel like one, the other team was so pathetic that I felt sad.
 Spoiler
First of all, when the game starts, pantheon and nunu are in our lane, we were hiding in bushes (me and cho), when he get's close we hit pantheon and leave him with like 200 hp, after that I build my stun, stun him and kill him and he quits. Then the game went pretty easy from there, the saddest part was when I clicked annie and noticed that her items were: a doran's shield, regular boots and a sunfire cape.

I was very fortunate that I went with my so-called "Carry Nuking" build on my Amumu.....had a great impact beyond its intended purpose:

 4v5 and we still won

You guys sure it wasn't a tooltip error? O_o
It seems more game-breaking than a "weird" bug if anything.

Also I recently got out of a 4v5 game, that we won, as well a few hours ago. I've conjured a hating for Singed, especially when he has nearly 5000 HP and just massacres players left and right D:

It was indeed game breaking. Once the bug got fixed, my friend started carrying on Malphazar again, LOL

Yeah Singed can be hella annoying. Poison spewing = ew. Him having loads of HP/tanky = Tongue

Whats wrong with warmog though? I played a game against a Mundo who stacked warmogs and he was annoying as hell to bring down.. Can you not do the same type of thing with tanks?

Warmog isn't horrible but there are better items, it's just pure hp. You want a nice mixture of hp and armor on items and such. For example randuin omen or sunfire cape.
Also warmog stacking on mundo is still pretty bad, it's a low-elo pub-stomping build that'd never work in high elo games.

Warmog's is a situational item for tanks. There are times it's worth getting, and times it will hurt you, and for some tanks it's not nearly as good as other items. If you see the other team building Madred's Razors, a warmog's isn't going to help much because the more HP you have, the more magic damage you will be receiving each hit by their ad carry. On the other hand, if you're going against Singed, Teemo, Urgot, and any other characters with lots of tick damage, a Warmog's would be a good thing to get since more HP = greater surviability, and more regen = greater chance of surviving encounters against said characters.

I generally play Cho'Gath for pure Tank and Nasus as an off Tank. If they have a balanced team, and no Madreds, I usually go Thornmail/Randuin's, Sunfire Cape/Aegis, Banshee's Veil, Force of Nature/Spirit Visage, Merc Treads, Warmogs. Not in that order persay, but that combination of items would be my end game. If you're doing well before lvl 11, stacking HP is the way to go. Also, it's particularly useful to rush a catalyst from your Veil as it will give you the most bang for your buck the earlier you get it. Shortly after lvl 11 is when you'll start getting into team fights so you want as close to 150 armor and magic resist as soon as you possibly can. Generally that means you build one armor item and one mr item. Depending on who you're fighting depends on what you go with first. A lot of games I'll end up with a Banshee's Veil, Sunfire Cape, and Merc Treads with a Regrowth pendant. Gives a fair amount of Health, Armor, and MR. After that, depending on who is doing the most damage to me, I'll start stacking armor, MR, or health, though I try to keep it fairly balanced.

Nasus on the other hand, rarely gets all that because a Trinity Force on him makes him dangerous enough that if ignored, he can kill squishy characters quite well. So for him, my endgame against a balanced team would look like this: Merc Treads, Sunfire Cape/Frozen Heart, Trinity Force, Randuin's/Aegis, Banshee's veil, Spirit Visage/Force of Nature. You can get Guardian's angel as well to replace one of those items, but it's a situational item since a carry having it is usually far better than the tank. A carry coming back to life may mean death for the other team. Nasus as an offtank might be worth having it on, especially since a few hits from him will regen him pretty quick, but I don't generally get it on Cho until pretty late end game, if at all.

Also, if you're wondering why I include Spirit Visage as a possibility, it's because Nasus and Cho'Gath both gain more from it than other tanks like Rammus or Amummu. Nasus has a natural 10-20% lifesteal, so adding it boosts the amount that heals quite nicely, while Cho'Gath gains health from minions kills, and if he already has a warmogs, it boosts that effectiveness quite a bit.
