There are so many good games for the 3ds, why would you only buy pokemon?
I get that pokemon is a good system seller, but once you have the machine, there is plenty worth getting.

Boohoo, my brother wants the T-Rex while I want the other one. We already agreed to get Y (Although I wanted X), so it should only be fair that we get the fossil I want. It's also his turn to have the character as his gender.

If you are sharing a game, have you considered buying the download version instead?
By downloading the game to two different SD cards (which are dirt cheap, you can get a big enough one for less than $5), you could each have your own save files.
It's easy enough to do. Put the first SD card in, download the game from the eshop, turn the 3DS off, put the second SD card in, go to the eshop and download it again.
