Ask a Pirate Thread - Bribery - 2009-09-29 My Bishop Warahyuu is my oldest character but being a Bishop gets really boring at times. After level 14x there are like no useful skills left. Around level 150, I was extremely bored of my Bishop and I wanted to make a new class. The problem was, I've tried all other classes and had no motivation to get them past level 50. Once I heard about Southperry and Pirates, I decided I would make a Pirate once they came to GMS since they were something new and refreshing. I was going to make a Buccaneer but they were so overhyped at the time. So, I decided to be different and make a Gunslinger. At that time Pirates were still in their early testing phase so no one really knew about Battleship Cannon's power. Most of the videos showcased Rapid Fire or really weak KMST characters so I thought it would be cool to play an "underdog" class for a change. I spent a lot of time finding out about the Gunslinger class and even wrote up that Gunslinger Skill Build out of pure boredom. So yeah, once the release date for Pirates was announced, I sold all my Bishop's stuff and funded Bribery, my Corsair. Training was really fun (well, besides those ing Turkeys that Nexon released at the same time). I managed to get to level 120 in about 3 weeks since a friend was leeching his Hermit so he let me bottom Newties/Cornians while he used my Bishop to leech. After getting to 122, I lost motivation. Those early levels of 4th job were just too annoying and I couldn't stand Newties anymore. Training was very difficult since this was pre-mini dungeon days so I always got KS'd or never found a person willing to share. As a result, I quit my Corsair for a while and went back to my Bishop. I recently restarted my Corsair over summer and I don't intend on looking back this time. And there's my Corsair life story.

My first character, Dyxanije, was an Ice/Lightning Wizard who got to level 44. I got bored of Dyxanije, so I made an Assassin, Xanije. Got to level 47 and got tired of being a d3xlss s1n. I then proceeded to make a Bandit, Zanije; I stopped playing him at level 37. I then made a Crossbowman, NaokiYadate. I fell in love with the class. Cheap scrolls, not many around, and CROSSBOWS. What was not to love? I spent a good 7 months playing Naoki until level 97, where I got tired of Typhons and Maple Story. I had made a Gunslinger when Pirates came out, but I only got AkiraYadate to level 35, then the hype wore off. I stopped playing Maple Story for a couple months. I came back and decided to train my Gunslinger. Akira is now level 85, I am training slowly but I am loving every mind numbing minute at Jr. Newties. I am also starting to train my Ice/Lightning again because I have always wanted an Arch Mage. I came back when pirates came out and made a slinger, got bored of it at level 4x and made a marauder (which im lovin'). Hermits just have too low hp for my liking. oh and, i have a level 61 i/l mage too, But those last 10 levels before 3rd job on a mage are so tedious. Ask a Pirate Thread - Mark - 2009-09-30 Oh boy! I had a Hermit! then I went to Bellocan when it came out and made a Crossbowman. **** sucked unfunded so I came back to Scania and quit my Hermit for a Crossbowman. Got him to around 133 when 4th job came out, and quit him at 144. I didn't get very far. Then Pirates came out and now I have a 172 Buccaroo. :3 Ask a Pirate Thread - Reflexx - 2009-09-30 So most 4th job guides say max cannon. Thing is i cant get cannon 30 for aWHILE probably not till i can HT and get it myself which will be around 160. Anyone know if 20 cannon is good enough until I can get cannon 30 book waaay later? Anyone in the same situation as me? or know anyone that is and how they manage with 20 cannon? Ask a Pirate Thread - ZottenKerel - 2009-09-30 ImVindictive Wrote:I have a more out of the box question, for the high level pirates. What was your original class before pirate came out? I'm just curious how you all kind of transfered. Started (now almost 4 years ago I think?) with a Fighter, simply because I thought that was the only class you could make, also the only weapon you could use was one handed sword and a shield (lolnoobme). I made an archer but never got that past lvl 23, fire wizard got to lvl 28 (lulz). I made a 10/5/5/5 char together with my friend and named them after our old game's names. He deleted it after we got to lvl 12 but I kept leveling it and kept it dexless (about 3 years ago). Right after I transferred my dex gear from my sader to page (sader was 99,99% at lvl 99) my sader got hacked, so there was no point in leveling it to 100. I continued my page, got to 120 2 days after 4th job was out, and got to 130 paladin. Got bored then, so refunded the crusader (this time over 5.4b value, over year and half ago). It got hacked again. So I sold the last item I had that I traded with a friend (I had to re-emburse his stonetooth that I lost) and rebuilt from the 1.5b I had left (was 13/22 1slot MS shield). Paladin got to 14x's and I got pretty bored, knowing pirates were close I made it months before they were out and couldn't wait. Left my paladin the day pirates were released and haven't trained on it for a day since then, pirate all day, son. Anyone in the same situation as me? or know anyone that is and how they manage with 20 cannon? Cannon 30 drops from Red Wyverns, unless they changed that recently. It's a fairly commonly trained on monster, so it shouldn't be too rare to find. It might be a bit pricey, but it's well worth the extra damage. I'd say do whatever you can to get Cannon 30 to work, you'll need that extra damage. Ask a Pirate Thread - Reflexx - 2009-09-30 what? are u serious? i thought all main skill 30 books drop from HT! Even in KMS they drop from red wyvern? o.O also how about cannon 20? Ask a Pirate Thread - fiftyschmooo - 2009-09-30 Reflexx Wrote:what? are u serious? i thought all main skill 30 books drop from HT! Even in KMS they drop from red wyvern? o.O also how about cannon 20? Every class has a 30 skill book that drops from HT, but not all of them are their "main skill." It is for magicians and NLs, since it drops meteor/blizzard/gen 30 and TT 30. For Paladins it's Heaven's Hammer and for Shadowers it's smokescreen, which are very helpful, but not really their "main skill." Corsair's 30 book from HT is Air Strike. As for cannon 20, it drops from Griffey and Black Wyverns. Good luck with Griffey, unless you got some friends who really like you and don't mind hunting it in the middle of the night. Edit: Boo I'm slow Ask a Pirate Thread - KhainiWest - 2009-09-30 ZottenKerel Wrote:Started (now almost 4 years ago I think?) with a Fighter, simply because I thought that was the only class you could make, also the only weapon you could use was one handed sword and a shield (lolnoobme). Er On topic question: The pro's are made obvious for a corsair, but to the high level corsairs what would you want about your class to be changed? Ask a Pirate Thread - fiftyschmooo - 2009-09-30 ImVindictive Wrote:Er On topic question: The pro's are made obvious for a corsair, but to the high level corsairs what would you want about your class to be changed? almost nothing... it's a very well balanced class ^_^ i personally would trade in my high Air strike damage (1200% maxed) for like.. under half that if they took off the cooldown, maybe weaken Octo's and make them follow you around ah la Hawk/ifrit cause they prety useless in training as is. The only thing i really don't like is the lowerish HP we have, i would love for them to have more hp, or at the very least make the hp washing formula for Int needed same as a NL's formula we need liek 40 more int iirc. And of corse... speed this dam ship up a little/make a skill to do so, it's like 80% movement speed, i walk faster than my ship moves, thats a problem for me. I find myself just moving around using Rapid fire sometimes cause i want some more action on the battlefield. other than that.... theres not really anything that NEEEEDS to be changed... its a great overall class and i enjoyed all leveles of it while i was leveling it all the way up^_^ Ask a Pirate Thread - KhainiWest - 2009-09-30 fiftyschmooo Wrote:almost nothing... it's a very well balanced class ^_^ i personally would trade in my high Air strike damage (1200% maxed) for like.. under half that if they took off the cooldown, maybe weaken Octo's and make them follow you around ah la Hawk/ifrit cause they prety useless in training as is. I find myself just moving around using Rapid fire sometimes cause i want some more action on the battlefield. I don't find any problems with the ship's movement speed. I hardly spend any time moving around on it. It's a very good system that forces you to take advantage of both the amazing mobility you gained in 2nd job and the power you gain in 4th job. Ask a Pirate Thread - JaredTheUnseen - 2009-09-30 I'd like if the ship could climb ropes, like any other mount. I don't think that'd make corsairs exponentially better, but it's the little things that help. Oh, and some form of a party skill, so my friends can stop complaining about it
Ask a Pirate Thread - Takebacker - 2009-09-30 L> homing to give a 5% increase in damage to all party members and 20% to corsairs. Ask a Pirate Thread - KhainiWest - 2009-09-30 Definatly making this thread brain blast Honestly I thought you all were going to ask for Battleships cool down to be knocked down. lol
Ask a Pirate Thread - Takebacker - 2009-09-30 That's the only thing that makes rapid fire useful though, lol. Ask a Pirate Thread - KhainiWest - 2009-09-30 Takebacker Wrote:That's the only thing that makes rapid fire useful though, lol. And mu lang dojo. HA TAKE THAT |
