Not sure how I'd feel about Water/Fighting - there don't seem to be a lot of good Fighting special or Water physical moves out there. There are a couple, but not many. The combination would be interesting vs a Sandstorm team, though.

Grass/Dark could work pretty well either physical or special and Fire/Psychic has a lot of access to strong special moves.

Sadly none of them look like they'll be bulky in any sort of way, though their final forms remain to be seen.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Olsi - 2013-01-08

Definitely seems like they will be grass/dark, fire/phychic, and water/fighting judging from the moves and the pokemon they used them on.

FlameChocobo Wrote:Thank god Grass/Poison isn't the staple of the series in terms of starters. I hope that fire starter isn't also a fighting type because that would make me facepalm. Seriously, GameFreak. If you want a Fire/Fighting pokemon, use it on a standard Pokemon, not Starter Pokemon.

ShinkuDragon Atleast Blaziken isn't Charizard @ the Fire/Flying part.
blaziken was awesome, infernape was cool too, then emboar was more than enough.

Chickens/Roosters are far more known for their fight than their flight.

Blaziken was one of the best starters so far in my honest opinion.

Chespin will likely be quite bulky. It's based off a chestnut (with the spiky and hard outer shell) and a hedgehog, which obviously curls in a ball for defense. It definitely seems like the more defense focused starter. Fennekin is likely the special sweeper and Froakie is probably the speedy one.

i loved blaziken, after all it was the first fire fighting starter, i was just pointing out that they can very easily make the fox a fighter type.

Let's discuss. Will the fox stay four-legged or turn two-legged?

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - ShinkuDragon - 2013-01-08

considering the trend, i'd say it stays 4 legs.

How?

Torchic-line made complete sense due to the reason I gave. Sure, it could have had the potential for Flying as well, but from a design/creative standpoint they would have a far less interesting Pokemon had it been Fire/Flying, especially since they aren't very good when it comes to Flying/''Bird'' types.

The fox is highly unlikely to have any Fighting traits as it evolves. It will either be a single-type or Fire/Psychic. If they made it Fire/Fighting they would REALLY have to pull the Fighting traits out of their asses, and at least the video shows it using Psychic abilities. It looks like another Vulpix/Snivy Pokemon.

look at zorua, it takes a single evolution for it to go two legged, and you can't tell me that zorua could very well be fighting/dark based on appearances.
torchic grew ARMS in a single evolution, charmander grew wings, they can do whatever they want really ._.

edit: note, i don't believe the fox will be fighting, but i'm saying it could be if nintendo really felt like being an ass, the psychic looking thing we saw could be extrasensory or something of the sort.

I do agree, Blaziken is the best starter. What I'm saying that this Fire/Fighting type needs to be for non-Starter Pokemon (It can be a gift pokemon, or a pseudo legendary) for Generation 6.

I agree, 4 stupidly muscular looking legs, so muscular that it doesnt make sense, then i will be happy

it'd be like gurrdurr, but the cement bars will actually be part of his legs.

@flamechocobo: it needs to stop, period, fire fighting's good for nothing but sweeping, and we got two (and a meh third) that do that

PURE GENIUS

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Hypermug - 2013-01-08

I hate to say this...(sort of, I'm not getting X), but the X legendary looks like another steel/psychic type to me. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Also, I wonder if we'll be able to walk in more than 4 directions this time around? I can't tell from the trailer.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Punch - 2013-01-09

NO.

My little Froakie will not turn into a Water/Fighting fiend. IT SHALL BE WATER/ICE, LIKE THE LEGEND SAYS.

but then it'll gain weaknesses to rock, steel, and fighting, then lose its res to fire.

...and gain resistances to nothing

Ice is good against Dragon, Flying, and Grass, bro!
But yeah I see watcha mean.

Still, look at little Froakie, see that white thing on his back? And his hands? They look like a scarf and gloves. Like he's meant to be ice!

yeah yeah I know, I meant defensively :<

although I agree, I can see it looking more ice than fighting. I'm going to use it either way regardless of type. It can't get any worse than Paras or Sewaddle ;-;

No, it would gain 4x resistance to ice, retain 2x resistance to water and steel becomes 1x since water resist steel.
