Sleepywood Sold, Old Site Probably Gone Forever - Mazz - 2012-11-03

If they are planning on remaking the site, they really need to get rid of "the most popular MapleStory forum", that hasn't been true since like 2009. :|

It wasn't at the time. It redirected back to the main facebook page for at least a week.

When you reply to something nearly a month you should take into fact that things are capable of changing between the time something was written and the time you read it.

I finally broke down and asked the question that's been on my mind since day one of this whole Maple Radio / Perion Corner / Sleepywood absurdity began;

[Image: sw-why.png]

I consider it an honest, valid question, not bashing. It's way too late to be bandwagonning this dying horse.

No sense in platypus footing around it. The site is as doomed to failure as it was during the supposed "renovation" under BullDog/Adura. Sleepywood needs to just bow out with what little self respect it has left at this point.

In the end, with its community gone it's time to let it rest. It's a well-thought out question, why attempt to bring back a forum of which its users have moved away especially when activity was already dwindling from before? This does the old SW no justice at all even though that site was full of some of the biggest dramas I had ever seen.

It's hard to accept that one has purchased a valuable but tarnished bauble, and in attempting to clean it up, broke it.
So they're investing time, money, and effort attempting to patch it up and/or recreate it from scratch.
We'll just have to wait and see what they finally end up with.

Haha man that facebook post was hilarious. I don't know why you'd ask such a question, it makes them second guess their decision. Let them drown.

Because I'd much rather they second guess their decision before dragging the community through another six months of needless anticipation and false hopes. They should be asking themselves what they have that they can bring to the community that doesn't already exist, or that they do better, and how and why they're better suited to it or all they're going to do is create another half assed unmaintained piece of crap that contrbutes noise to drowning out the things worth actually finding. Just because any moron with 10$ can put a website up doesn't mean every moron with 10$ should put up his/her own website for every single point of interest s/he has.

If you're going to do something, do it, you don't just string everyone along forever and we already know there is virtually nothing they can give us any more, in regards to either Perion Corner or Sleeypwood. At this point they're just continually bringing up the freshly dead and agitating people rather than letting them go to a respectful rest and finding their own thing to do.

I have nothing against Maur, Sleepywood, Perion Corner or Maple Radio but for crying out loud, when you admit you have almost no time as is, it's a low priority for you amongst several other priorities, you are going to have to rely on other people for all the work and most of the ideas, clearly there is something that's not being thought out.

Cannot wait for a reply to that post. Hopefully they actually answer it rather than just a simple "thank you for your input" type answer.

And, I agree. They need to let go. If it's just going to be a "forum", all they're going to get is people reposting information from other sites. If they're trying to become what they were back in ~08, it's never going to work.

At first I didn't care but after reading all these posts I feel nostalgia too. I never registered there, I only visited sw to read funny drama threads and get to "know" people on my server. I don't miss the site because I don't care for it at all, but I do miss how life was back when I played MS...

Last part of the fb post should have been omitted or rewritten to not be an ad hom. That is assuming that the intended audience was Maud and the intended purpose was to convince him that going through with this is a bad idea. Because people don't like being ad hommed, especially when the dude add homing him is telling him what he should be doing in the future. Naw what I mean? But if it was for giving him a sick burn on fb then that it was well done.

It's not an ad hominem when it's directly quoting his own excuses as to why the site has been dead for an excess of 45 days and counting.
Direct quotes;
"It's hard to put an ETA only for the fact that the owner and our programming team are all university students."
"We're trying to import the old content back into sleepywood, however, due to the limitations we're given with the database, we may have to purge it"
"If you guys know anyone who'd be interested in becoming Sleepywood staff, that has MySQL experience, do let us know, as many of us are in "mid term" exam mode"

And it's been almost a month since even that update.

They've repeatedly admitting to having no time, no skills, no experience and little attention span for this project, which ironically they also claim is their "#1 priority", and if you want to get particularly betschy, no content, which I left out.
It's not a personal attack to point out the kid half-assing it at the back of the race sniffing flowers and limping along is unlikely to win given the 10 minute head start the rest of the racers already have; that's observation of facts. They could certainly surprise us and go sonic the hedegehog at the last minute, but to do so they'd have to pull a pretty impressive trick at this point.

Mercy is so not like you :'(. They think they'll be the next hot sh`it, doesn't matter what content they have. I bet you they are thoroughly convinced they can sale a bag of sh`it if necessary. But hey, now at least you can say the classic "I told you so" Rolleyes

I don't expect they'll honestly answer it, or even acknowledge it or consider it, but I know I'm not the only one who's been wondering it especially as they make, or repeat, more and more excuses why they haven't really done anything and time stretches on.

A request. That forum should just be nothing more than a horrible memory.

Sleepywood Sold, Old Site Probably Gone Forever - snowie72 - 2012-11-07

I spent a good part of my adolescence throwing my idiotic opinions around and flaming people haha.. Such memories..

But honestly, the site has sucked for like 3-4 years, always dead except for the regulars who don't even play MS anymore.. should just let it die already..

Wonder how much Adura got for the domain?

Been 4 days and he hasn't responded to Eos's post. Either he's shoving it under the rug or he seriously hasn't even seen it.

Guess you got your answer, Eos; just not visually.
