Apprentice. Level 35. Then again, it's probably a bit early to make any judgements.

Hey, does the Dual Casting perk really make that much of a difference? Will it allow me to dualcast spells like Firebolt? Or does it make the basic flamethrower-type spells stronger? Either way is fine by me.

Skyrim thread - Eos - 2011-12-04

The dual casting perks make everything stronger, that's their whole point. Pretty much everything can be dual cast.

You're not even destruction 40 yet, so that's why you're not seeing any of the more advanced destruction spells. They start to appear as you get closer to the next milestone levels. Look at when the next 'spells of this type cut in half' become available and around there is when they should be available.

Skyrim thread - Olsi - 2011-12-04

Ninja'd by eos, but there's another perk where if you are dual casting you're gonna stun your enemy what feels like 80% of the time, and apparently fire wall is like flames but I never got that far in terms of spells.
Also 6k gold on my new archer with 5-6 hours gameplay in one day, its more of a bow, stealth character really. Still trying to get good with enchanting and forging =\.

The Atronach Stone, which absorbs magic spells completely at a 50% rate, so a lot of his attacks won't do any damage at all

We've killed that one and Morokei (I think that's its name? The one that gives the mask with 100% bonus magicka regen) once between the 5 of us playing.

Decided to enchant more things with % bow dmg but i need better soul gems, what other way to get good cheap ones then steal from the college? Too bad I have to summon a flame summon that I dont have enough mana to cast Rolleyes

Skyrim thread - Eos - 2011-12-04

You can buy Grand ones all over the place pretty cheap.

Skyrim thread - Olsi - 2011-12-04

My friend said if i did the greybeard thing I could get in so I'll probably do that, and buy some.
Why would they even let you pick between the white and dark soul azura's star, the dark star is so much better lol.

Skyrim thread - Alilatias - 2011-12-04

I don't think the Dark Star existed in any previous Elder Scrolls game. It's such a nice thing to finally have. The Azura's Star is probably there for roleplayers or those who care about having followers. The woman at Azura's Shrine seems to be a really good spellcaster, judging from watching my brother play.

---

These outdoor dungeons are really nice. Oblivion was all caves and forts. Shame that the game doesn't autosave anywhere in the overworld, so I have to be a bit paranoid with my saving habits.

The game autosaves every 15 minutes when you go into the menus so, its kind of a safety net for non-compulsive savers.
Also the mage at azura's shrine is really overpowered compared to the other companions.

Skyrim thread - Olsi - 2011-12-04

Wait how overpowered are we talking about here?

Skyrim thread - Alilatias - 2011-12-04

She can summon any of the three Atronachs and uses high-damaging Frost and Shock spells kind of overpowered. I think she has some Alteration shielding spells as well.

Skyrim thread - Olsi - 2011-12-04

Got my black star, partnered with my bow that takes souls I'm gonnna kill everyone.

Skyrim thread - Eos - 2011-12-05

And now for a comedic interlude tying together both Skyrim and MapleStory via meme;

Skyrim thread - Jedward - 2011-12-05

There's an app for that.

Rolleyes

Skyrim thread - Alilatias - 2011-12-06

So I got far enough into the main quest to find Blackreach.

Holy crap, that place was nuts. I spent like an hour and a half trying to explore the place. And chances are high that I'm still not done. Are all the Dwemer ruins connected to the place or what?

Nah, Blackreach is just one freaking huge Dwemer ruin / underground city.
I spent hours there collecting Crimson Nirnroots for the "Back to your Roots" quest.

On a side note I got the Oblivion Walker acheivement and collected the 9th dragon preist mask today. Big Grin

I felt like I missed the joke (for the comic itself) when I didn't laugh at the end.
Then I realized, it's a CAD comic, so it just wasn't funny to begin with.

I love that video. The copy a friend of mine linked me to was titled "The Dovahkiin is great with kids".

Never played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games so I wasn't really hyped for Skyrim, but after playing it for 97 hours I'm so entirely glad I bought it. Though I avoid riding horses like the plague. I find fast-travel to still be less of a problem to my immersion than horses. (Would love to try out the Kinect PC Mod though, probably really fun once you get used to it)

It is when you tie in the GMS obsession with the cake vs pie meme that only they're obsolete enough to care about or enjoy.

Pretty much.

Completely unrelated to that, has anybody ever fought a nordgon? I tend to nord-ify the dragons that never really 'latch', the ones that just kind of hang around to prevent fast travel.

Skyrim thread - Eos - 2011-12-07

But you don't get soul credit for it. Boo.

Also 'nordgon' sounds like a nordic gorgon not a nordic dragon since the last syllable is pronounced like wagon in dragon but tends to be read as 'gone' in most other words.

"Norgon" is more fun Biggrin
