A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Rob - 2011-06-04 A. There's no other choice really. Red light seemed to be a bad end as did chasing after the woman before. Amusing. A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - FelixTM - 2011-06-04 Chapter 3: "Sinner's Tango" #13 . . . take the mysterious man's hand. Derrick lifts his hand and accepts the mysterious man's help. He grips his hand and lifts him to feet. He feels strength rushing back into his body. Hunger disappears. Thirst evaporates. His tattered skin heals, his clothes are mended... Derrick looks into the man's face with horror. His grin widens and a soft laughter escapes his lips. He tries to free his hand, but the man holds on tightly. Broken memories flash in his mind, familiarity, regret...anger. Derrick violently rips his hand free and backs away. "Oh, is something the matter?" The sinister man laughs more loudly, his tone becoming condescending. "What the hell is this place, and how the hell do you know my name? Who are you? Dammit, I want some answers now!" Derrick holds up his flashlight, threatening to attack. "Or what? Are you going to attack me?" He holds up his fists, mockingly. He chuckles, turns around and heads back down the fire-lit corridor. "If you come with me, maybe I'll give you some." Derrick wants to protest, but the situation feels hopeless. And he truly feels this man has answers for him. Hesitantly, he follows him through the curious pillars. "Where are you taking me?" he asks. "So many questions, like a child," the man teases. He stops and offers his hand for a greeting. Derrick refuses. "Heh. My name is Reginald Francis Halgravi the Fourth, but you already know that." He resumes his steady pace toward their destination. Derrick stops in confusion. "That's...but I don't remember you. I don't remember anything. Please fill in some blanks," he begs. "Do not fall behind. We are going to my home, of course. As for where we are," Reginald pauses, "well...that is hard to say." He snickers. "Did you hit your head? Really now, how embarrassing." "I don't know what happened! Are you going to help me or not?" "Of course, Derrick. You should show some respect--I am the only friend you have right now, after all. Will you not come inside?" Reginald gestures in front of them. Countless more flames burst to life, bringing a giant mansion into view. Its scale is breathtaking. "My humble abode. Please, you are most welcome." He opens the grand front doors and directs his guest inside. Derrick gasps upon setting foot in the majestic foyer. A macabre chandelier hangs from the monstrous ceiling, accenting the regal winding stairways to the upper floors. "You have...interesting taste. This can't be real..." Reginald closes the doors and walks to the center area, drawing attention to the elegant and bizarre design on the floor. "Oh, I assure you it is quite real. My labor of love." He walks over to a door on the ground floor, pausing with his hand on the brilliant doorknob. "Now then, if it is answers you desire, it is answers I will grant. But a conversation between gentlemen would not be right without some tea. Please, make yourself at home while I prepare us some." His faint laughter disappears behind the door, leaving Derrick alone in the overwhelming presence of the mansion. Countless doors lie before him. He decides to . . . --- A) Wait patiently for Reginald to return. B) Explore the doors on the ground floor. C) Explore the doors on the second floor. D) Explore the doors on the third floor. E) Flee the mansion. ---
Anything you miss is permanent, of course. Sometimes maybe it would be better to pick the stranger or riskier choice. You can always restart from a DEAD END, but you can't learn the clues one may hold if you successfully pass it. Or maybe you want to try reaching the end without dying. Doesn't matter to me. Most have been pretty obvious, I think. At least one I was certain you'd take because it wasn't risky at all. But you guys have surprised me on multiple choices, like this recent one. I totally thought you'd go for the red light. It wasn't even dangerous! I like this better, though. Always planned on introducing Reginald, I just didn't think it'd be so early. Yeah let's just stick with five. A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - MetaSeraphim - 2011-06-04 B) Explore the doors on the ground floor. Start at the ground and work our way up, if possible. A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Panacea - 2011-06-04 B as well. I'd rather not stay in one spot. A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Salguod - 2011-06-04 Missing a word here: "You should some respect" B) Explore the doors on the ground floor. He did say to "make yourself at home." B,C and D are all the same to us, so let's get to 5 quickly. I wonder how the dying batteries will come into play later in the story. A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - tehflyer - 2011-06-04 I choose A. While in someone else's house, it is dangerous to snoop around... A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Throes - 2011-06-04 B) Explore the doors on the ground floor. I'm so lost. What is going on?

It would be best to know as much as we can, in case we need to get away. A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - TheThunderBandit - 2011-06-05 I agree B. While everyone I have ever met named Reginald has been very nice I don't get a good vibe from him. If we choose A we could get answers or death by.... "Tea". B, C, and D we get answers or death by the unknown/Reginald getting pissed that you are snooping. Anyone else getting a vibe like Reginald is Satan and this is hell? Anyways great story so far Felix A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - FelixTM - 2011-06-08 #14 . . . explore the doors on the ground floor. Seeing an opportunity, Derrick rushes to the opposite wall and checks the first door. It's locked. He looks around the foyer and counts anywhere from five to seven doors on each floor. He walks to the next door, trying to keep from getting discouraged. Another locked door. "Dammit. What is this place." He tries the large door on the wall opposite the entry, and it opens. Each door is decorated with a unique, ornate knob. Derrick notices the curious design as he pushes the door open and thinks his host definitely can't be trusted. He closes the door behind him and wonders if he could even hide from Reginald if he needed to. The feeling is unnerving, but he continues his exploration. Inside, he finds himself facing down a massive dining table. Despite having seats for twenty people, Derrick notices it appears to have fallen into disuse. Another door on each wall. He runs to the one opposite the direction Reginald entered, fearing the other may lead directly to the kitchen. Here he finds a short, empty hallway. At the end, an intimidating portrait of a regal man stares him down. Derrick finds it hard to look at the painting. To the left and right, the hallway continues with several new doors. He chooses the branch to the right and opens the first door, eager to put distance between Reginald and himself. A stately bedroom, clearly having seen little use. "How the hell did this all get down here... He can't possibly live alone." Derrick rummages through the dresser drawers but doesn't find anything out of the ordinary. Several articles of neatly folded clothing, appearing brand-new. The large bed is perfectly made. He finds an adjoining bathroom, but it, too, has little of interest and appears completely unused. He leaves and enters the next door in the hallway. Another bedroom, nearly identical to the last one. Derrick quickly leaves and heads for the last door at the end. Goosebumps wash over his body as he pulls the door open. More stairs, descending even deeper. A cool breeze rushes past his face, making him feel uneasy. From the foyer, Reginald's voice calls out faintly. Derrick shuts the door and rushes into the basement. He takes his flashlight out again to help him find a light switch. Its beam flickers, dimmer than before. "No...you can't give out on me yet." Luckily, he finds a switch and flips it on. The basement is dank and barren, shockingly different from the previous rooms. Derrick cautiously moves forward, realizing how it feels more like a dungeon than anything. Following the slight slope even deeper, he finds a foreboding door blocking his path--its small window lined with rusty bars. The sound of footsteps above him. Reginald's voice, barely audible. Derrick knows he is searching for him. Feeling cornered, he begins to open the barred door...but stops when he hears something from within. Something living. He remains completely still, suddenly unsure which direction is more unsafe. The noise is muffled...broken, but it sounds sad. Like weak crying. Reginald's footsteps go silent. Derrick looks through the bars but finds it hard to see clearly. The room is dimly lit. A few slow drips stand out against the weak, hidden noise. Fearing another moment of remaining still, he decides to . . . --- A) Enter the room. B) Return upstairs and try hiding from Reginald. C) Return upstairs and allow Reginald to find him. ---
