His information isn't based on rumors. It's based on actual data from KMST, which was also included in the Kerning Square extraction here on SP.
The only rumor he stated was something about a thief class.

Can I ask what made you think that the best mount for mages would be dragons? Because dragons are the last things I would relate to mages.

Well the mount is really more to do with the back story of the character than the actual class is it not?

It remains to be sure whether or not it will be a dragon. Just because the mount is tentatively named dragon doesn't translate to anything.
Even if it does translate, the fact that a dragon mount already exists means nothing.

Well the Bishop's summon is a dragon. It's also more fits the mage style rather then a thief type hero. After all, a thief type hero wouldn't be very inconspicuous if he was mounted on a dragon right?
