The server status page updates once every 3 minutes.

That being said, something up here. No lag whatsoever, no collection of rage posts about how they're being forcefully disconnected, and yet the server status page was saying earlier that servers were going down left and right.

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - SaptaZapta - 2012-01-31

People have become resigned to random crashes?

You see the thing is I was in chnl 5 for like 40+min when I made that post which makes things even weirder

A quick scan of the servers at the server selection screen shows no channels with significantly fewer players than what is normal for that server despite the server stat screen showing crashes. Not what I'd expect.

Just because you weren't disconnected doesn't mean the channel was capable of accepting new connections at the time.

Well you learn something new every day.
Like when a chnl goes down that doesn't mean you'll get kicked.

If you can practice the grand art of literacy long enough to read the legend on the status page, no where does it say that a red flag means the channel was "down". It says it could not be connected to, which may mean it was down or simply unreachable.

Hopefully your new lesson for the day will be regarding paying attention and not making assumptions.

It is possible that we're getting semi-false unreachable reports at the moment due to Nexon having implemented a limit on the number of connections a single IP address can make in a certain window of time. A throttle like that would have interesting implications regarding what's been going in the past week.

Given the lack of rage on different forums, I'd say you're right and the channels aren't crashing.

Is this why the GM Police are appearing so often now and disconnecting players for the Hack Reason?

I checked the logs from my own status checker. No scania/login channels have been down since about 1:27am pst today. My checker attempts connection to the 3 login and 19 scania channels simultaneously every 20 seconds with a timeout of 10 seconds.

Also the timestamps from your status checker logs seem to be 1 day off?

Doesn't really help me in the slightest since all that tells me is your 23 channels is below whatever threshold they're bombing at.

Well... If I changed it so it's checking more often than yours and it's unaffected then that would disprove your theory, no?

Someone said yours was checking every 3 minutes is that correct? With 283 checks that would be... 1.58 checks per second. So if I reduced mine to checking every 10 seconds that would work?

GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01 - Eos - 2012-02-01

Mine doesn't check them serially, so no, probably not, but it's rather hard to say since there's no indication what the threshold is or where it's at.

It'd be more info than we currently have, but unlikely to be conclusive proof of anything.

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one crashing every half hour for the past 2 hours...

I only started crashing about 20 minutes ago when the servers started seizing up and dying. Otherwise my computer has been connected to Maple for rings and such for the last 9 hours straight.
