Takebacker Wrote:Nintendo is traditionally anti-DLC.

Not really since this gen started. Fire Emblem, Pikmin 3, 2 NSMB games, Streetpass plaza, Mario Golf and pokemon mystery dungeon (and probably more) have all had substantial DLC.

Smash bros is a bad match for paid DLC though, especially if it's characters. You have to download the content anyway to be able to play online (because even if you don't have it, others will) and then you have to compete against characters you can't really use/practice against.
On the other hand, if we don't have Mario Kart DLC by the time the 3DS game releases, I'd write it off as not happening. I also imagine Sakurai isn't really the kind of person who would want to continue working on smash bros 4 after it ships.
I'm more worried that they might be insane enough to lock characters behind Amiibo (like both other major NFC games on the market).

So I just noticed that the cpu can be set at lv 10 now. Whether that is the same as the previous games' lv 9s or a true bump up in difficulty, I don't know.

When I saw that robot in the 3ds demo that I played in nintendo world, I thought it was Gamma.

Didn't it show the kid icarus uprising difficultly slider during the e3 digital event? (Though it might have been for smash run rather than cpu difficulties)

That would mean it has 90 difficultly levels, with major increments in difficultly at 10, 20, 30, ..., 90

I'm 100% certain that Kid Icarus-esque gauge was indeed for smash run, and not in relation to CPU difficulty level.

False alarm guys, and I'm sorry if I disappointed anyone, I'm just f`ucking blind.

I saw this screen shot on my phone: [Image: WiiU_SuperSmashBros_screen01.jpg]

Didn't notice the "FP" behind Link Tongue

So...yeah. That's just the level of the amiibo.

Sakurai Wrote:Pic of the day. Here's a new mini-game that's quite a bit different from Coin Launcher in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's called Trophy Rush! The details…will be kept secret for now.

Sakurai Wrote:Pic of the day. Pac-Man's standard special move, Bonus Fruit. As you charge this move, the bonuses will change, and all of them have different characteristics and movement patterns when thrown. The bonuses cycle in the same order as in the original game, and the charge-up period doubles once you cycle beyond the orange.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Takebacker - 2014-06-19

That's a charge up huh? I figured it was like peach's turnips. Guess that's a better move considering some of those items are probably really really really good

Yeah, one thing that bothered me about Peach (to a less degree with the DEATH turnips)/ Mr Game and Watch was random power things like the famous "9". Even though I loved to pineapple around with it, but it's unfair most of the time.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion - Takebacker - 2014-06-19

It isn't unfair at all. It's unreliable.

Sakurai Wrote:Pic of the day. Here's Donkey Kong's third standard special attack, Storm Punch!! Thanks to the customization options, each fighter is stocked with 12 different special moves. The number of attacks is pretty appalling.

And King Dedede's Throw, which they said is exclusively Gordos now. I like that they've made it more useful, but I also liked fu'cking around with Waddle Doos. I can certainly see why they made it Gordo-exclusive, but I think if they just removed Waddle Dees (the useless ones), and made Gordos require a very slight charge time, then you could make good use of Doos as well.
