The level 9 (or was it level 10?) Great Sword is pretty good.

I would recommend using at hit-and-run strategy if you are using too many potions. Alternate between Ghost Slash and that one Asura wave skill.

Original General Dungeon Fighter Thread - GMSInfighter - 2009-11-02

Yeah I have 0 HP pots. lol...

I'm still getting used to the strategies of the game.

Original General Dungeon Fighter Thread - mrcowcow - 2009-11-03

I'd personally say to not use Ghost Slash, since it really leaves you wide open due to its delay afterwards, but instead to use Neutral Wave Sword and Ashe Fork and Thrust. Those are pretty much the slayer 'play-it-safe' moves as far as I remember from when my Berserker was around that level. There are some swords you'll be getting in the higher 10's. I personally used Kotachi until 15 when you get a Bludgeon. That one will last you until 18, where you get yet another Bludgeon. After that, you'll be getting swords every so often from quests. You can literally play the whole game using weapons you get as quest rewards, although they might not be the preferred weapon of your subclass.

Launchers, is Hand Cannon Mastery a necessary, as well as Cannonball or whatever that skill's called?

It should be later on. You're not gonna use a bowgun forever.

Cannon ball is great for pvp, huge aoe, huge damage, it's pure % based too. For pve...we just have too much skills to cover this field.

Original General Dungeon Fighter Thread - MasPan - 2009-11-03

Hand Cannon Mastery is actually not recommended. You won't be using your default combo much in dungeons unless you're solo.

Ok I'm just going to post in this topic;
I'm getting back to DfO with the intention that it works now. OBT hated me and I couldn't play, but I did play in CBT.

Going to make a gunner, fighter thing is an alternative, cause I can, what should I do in regards to skills etc...
BASICALLY I NEED A GUIDE I GUESS.

You don't really need to care about your build until you are level 18 and advance to second job. For first job, you get some skills from each class, I suggest that you put points into things that look useful or good and choose a subclass based on the skills that you like the most. DFO Source has a ton of newbie topics that you can lurk around in.

Eh, if that was the case, every Priest would've became a Monk. Straight Punch and Smasher are unbelievably powerful when you're in those early levels. Crusader tab only gets buffs, and Exorcist just has Giant Weapon Launcher, (your default Z skill since level 1) and Phoenix Hammer doesn't come until level 15. I wouldn't base your subclass off of the skills alone. Do some actual research on DFO fan sites.

Good point. In hindsight, that was poor advice for a newbie on my part.

Level 39 tomorrow. I had to quit at 94% tonight. I hate how that happens to me a lot. Back up to 45 octo balls after farming First Spine.

Managed to get another Oxidized Substance (FINALLY) tonight too. The only two quests I have left are that one and defeat Chuseol on King's. You and me gotta do that one sometime, Kajiti.

I'd help if I were 2-3 levels higher. Lol.

Unless it's one of them speed run bets, just take your time and use a lot of strategy. Eventually you'll come across some good HP pots, and if not try and find HP replenishing fairies. But if not, just try and brave through it attack, back up, attack back up, attack attack. I learned to do this from not having HP pots for like four dungeons. Good luck.

Get a party, if I level up some today I can come help you out later, even knock out the quest myself.

Personally I think the best way to train yourself in certain situations is to try it on Master's or higher and think about what you could do or have done better if you should die (which is likely). It's kinda where I got most of my survival tactics from.
