Maybe 3 octos out at once could rack up some damage, but the summoning animation is long (and you can do it on the boat), so you're open during that time. I've seen 48k's with my Air Strike and my equips aren't nearly as good as the equips of a lot of the people I've seen here. And that's without MW. If I were to have max Octo (500 attack), it could do from 9163 to 12872. Octo attacks nearly double as fast as other summons, every 1530ms to be exact. In that time, Octo can attack 26 times. Do you see where this is going? Octo is really freaking strong. fiftyschmooo Wrote:i Seriouslyy havent touched octo since i left newties, it doesnt help in skeles, just agro's them to the point they want to kill you>.> if your @ a boss liek Zakum, its more damage to use a cannon on body than waste that time to cast octo and do ur lvl back flip(can summons even crit?) but i looked at it like this, i cast octo which will deal like 5-10K every 3 seconds for 45 seconds or w/e which (i have no idea how dude came out to 290K damage in its cast time since maxed master octo would have to deal like.... 20K per hit, which seems high from what ive seen from videos even tho ive never used it with an apple or anything but in my opinion using a cannon that does like.. 25K-liek 38K un crit X 4 that 100% hits the body no matter where you attack from (assuming your facing Zakum) and i THINK... But.... seriously... how could you not know when you can cast Octo? You can cast it on your boat and it's not any slower to cast than when you're off you're boat. Octo will always be there to boost your damage, especially when your boat is broken. Ask a Pirate Thread - Dusk - 2009-09-05 What would be the best way to upgrade my shoes? I'm currently using 4 str 7 dex Blue Pageant Shoes. I also have 4 str 6 dex 2 slot shoes, but since Maker came out I decided not to waste any more money scrolling those. I'm looking for shoes that will last me for a while. At least a 5 stat upgrade. I need at least 3 str on them to equip my Concerto (after I get Black Belt and Broken Glasses - right now I need 5 str shoes to do so). Original plan - forging Blue Pageant + Adv Power + Adv DEX. These would grant me 15 stats, + about 3 more from 60%ing, but I'm having trouble finding an Adv Power anywhere in FM. Total cost = ~270m, but I already have everything except the Adv Power, including the 60%s. Alternatives - forging Blue Pageant + Im Power + Im DEX. 11 stats, and I'd try to pass 2 30%s to make up the lost stats. However, passing 2 30%s would mean I would have to forge multiple shoes. Total cost = ~35m per shoe, + 10-15m for 2-3 more 60%s. something involving Dark Crystals? There's always adding base STR and using FS, if that turns out to be cheaper (doubt it). I don't want to spend more than 300m ish. Ask a Pirate Thread - ShevaLi - 2009-09-07 I'm gonna forge my Blindness with an Advanced Diamond, an Intermediate Dex and an Advanced Topaz (30 Hp is better than 3 str, at least for me). I'll use a Stimulator too. How should I scroll it? 60% all the way? Is ~100-105 atk Blindness good? I was thinking about using a 10% with White scrolls on first slot, but I think it's too expensive. Oh, by the way, Reverse equips can level 3 or 4 times? O.o Ask a Pirate Thread - Takebacker - 2009-09-07 60%s all the way for the win. Unless you can actually afford to replace it. Iirc 3 times. Ask a Pirate Thread - fiftyschmooo - 2009-09-07 ShevaLi Wrote:I'm gonna forge my Blindness with an Advanced Diamond, an Intermediate Dex and an Advanced Topaz (30 Hp is better than 3 str, at least for me). I'll use a Stimulator too. this is kinda risky, basically.. take what your current gun is now say its a concerto, the str you would need to gain just to use the gun over your concerto would ~ be equal to 4 atk (due to loss of dex since it needs to be put in str) so say u have a 100 concerto.. you would have to aim for a 104 blindless imo to be equal now if you have a Dragonfire Revolver i would say u would need ~ 2 more attack than your current gun, now these attack values are ~ what you would need to even be equal to your other gun.. say sure you did have a 100/4(or 5 dex) concerto and you make a blindless that comes out avg + a n adv dex crystal which makes it a 85/5 dex gun (think u said u wanted hp) u have a possible of 3 lvl ups all gaining you 1-2 atk 1-2 Dex and 0-1 str makes your total 3-6 atk 3-6 dex and 0-3 str say they all land on the low side of the spectrum, you end up with a 89 atk 8 dex gun before scrolling meaning you need to gain like 14 more attack to surpass a 100 atk concerto (when including dex)(which is OUCH 7 of 9 60%'s.... are you feeling luckey.. punk?) i dont know about you... but i would rather not risk a few hundred millions of mesos on something that might be worse then your current gun, now this is like a best case worse case sineario(i knwo i cant spell) now when making your gun, it can become below avg even if you dont use a stim, (mine came to 82 atk WITH the adv diamond) woulda been 79 atk if i didnt use diamond.....) such an epic fail.. and when lvl'd it only added 4 atk and a lil dex.. i woulda needed to land like 9 60's to make it equal to my 101 dfr.. and even then it was bad...... ya... you just need to weigh what u could need to happen with scrolling to make the gun better than your current one and if that scrolling is like... realistic (9/9 60%'s isnt realistic lol) and if it isnt realistic.. and you wanna take a serious chance for a serious reward... lookinto making multiple guns and using a 30 or 2 Ask a Pirate Thread - ShevaLi - 2009-09-07 So, forging a Revolver or a Concerto and scroll with 30% would be better? o.o Ah, my old gun was a 93/5 concerto. Ask a Pirate Thread - Dusk - 2009-09-07 60%ing Reverse weapons is commonly done, but unless you pass pretty much every single 60% on them, you have much better chances with a level 100 weapon. I don't think Reverse weapons are even worth it unless you can afford to land at least 1 30% on them, if not 2. Dragonfires cost something like 160~180m to forge? That's not much better odds than the Reverse. A Concerto with Adv Diamond + Im Dex/Im BC costs about 20m to forge. You get over 20 chances to make it better than a Reverse. This is what I'm doing. I've got two 79/3 and a 78/3 clean already, going to forge a few more with BCs and start scrolling. Ask a Pirate Thread - ShevaLi - 2009-09-07 I was doing some calculations, and I saw that if I use a Concerto I can use an atk pac. It should be the best thing to do right now, no? O.o Ask a Pirate Thread - IllegallySane - 2009-09-07 Got an interesting scenario. I am fast approaching 160, so I would finally get my bossing ability maxed, Demolition. Now my next step is either getting Maple Warrior 19, or Snatch 30. If I get Maple Warrior, it'll add about 80 STR, which is the equivalent of about 11.5 extra attack (predict ~850 STR at 167 with level 19 Maple Warrior up). This adds extra damage 100% of the time. Now on the flip side, there is the ability Snatch, which is a weaker Dragon Strike (600% x 6), but grabs enemies to me (a la Monster Magnet), and stuns. The spamability is only slightly slower than an unboostered Flash Fist. The stunning though can make things easier, as I can stunlock with Snatch, and crit with Dragon Strike. This only adds damage 50% of the time. I am wondering if the potential of having nearly two Dragon Strikes every 2 seconds is worth only getting the damage boost 50% of the time, versus a steady 11.5 attack boost from Maple Warrior, which I can benefit as soon as 166-167, versus 170 for Snatch. Long story short, which will boost my training speed more? Ask a Pirate Thread - Holypie - 2009-09-07 Well it would depend on how much of a damage boost you're getting from Snatch. If the boost is twice as effective as 11.5 attack, and works 50% of the time, then go for snatch. I would go for snatch because the stunlock will probably save you a few pots. Plus it looks cool. Pots is negligible due to Pieces of Time; I already burn ~150 Honster/hour (very low compared to what some classes burn at Oblivion 4) purposely getting hit in order to combo Dragon Strike + 2 Energy Blasts (requires me to be in the mob, but I kill faster than pure Dragon Dancing. I still Dragon Dance if the mobs are too spread apart; they MUST be literally on top of one another before I unleash 1 DS/2 EB hell.). What I truly care for is the training speed (EXP/hour). Ask a Pirate Thread - Worthyness - 2009-09-07 Any tips for training a buccaneer? I seem to get stuck on 13x on all my characters ><" I really do wanna train, but i can't seem to focus as well as i used to. At the moment i'm at oblivion 1 doing the quests. Should i just continue to train there or would previous maps in TT be better? Edit: Also would looking to forge shoes or an overall be best? I'm not rich at all and can't afford to mass scroll at all. I'm aiming for a reverse knuckle if i can get 19 more dex. I was thinking of forging a pair of lvl 100 shoes with a dark crystal, a dex crystal, and a stimulator. Any places to farm for dex crystals? o-O sorry for lots of ?'s. Ask a Pirate Thread - K!yO - 2009-09-07 Anyone have an alternative training spot to Newts for lvl 100-110ish? Newts is the only spot I can think of I won't have Flamethrower at all till 100, so the freeze/burn combo will be weak for a while. Any suggestions?
Ask a Pirate Thread - USMC - 2009-09-07 IllegallySane Wrote:Got an interesting scenario. I think it all breaks down to DS+blast+11.5atk VS Snatch+DS. Does Snatch+DS combos perfectly with each other? This is not a problem if you can kill in snatch+DS+snatch, but if you need a 2nd DS, there could be a little delay before you can use it. And how well can you DS+blast? If you can do it fairly easily, it might not be too bad compared to maxed snatch, with the help of 11.5atk 100% of the time. But I would say go with snatch, new skill is always fun, and it doesn't look like a bad choice at all. After all MW19 is only 11.5atk, if it doesn't make you kill in less hits, it's pretty much worthless(in training). Edit: Oh and I feel that all xforms skills are only a little bit better than normal skills, without any significant boost, which kinda sucks for investing so much points in. Ask a Pirate Thread - Takebacker - 2009-09-08 IllegallySane Wrote:Long story short, which will boost my training speed more? Snatch. Reasons: 1) You go rambo. Instead of dragon dancing apparently you switch blast and DS. So switching snatch and DS instead would improve your HKO. 2) MW isn't going to change your HKO much if at all. You probably 4hko chief guards, right? 3) You care about training speed, not bossing speed. MW would increase your bossing speed. (though usually you'll have MW anyway) Snatch would increase your bossing speed (and be useless at bosses). |
